Mill Creek Football Field Named in Honor of Retiring Principal Dr. Jim Markham

Hawks will now play on Markham Field.

From now on, when Mill Creek teams take to the field, they will be reminded of the man who led through its early years -- an educator with more than four decades of experience.

In a surprise pre-game ceremony on Friday, Aug. 31, the football field at Mill Creek Community Stadium was named Markham Field in honor of . Markham is currently battling a recurrence of cancer and is retiring in order to pursue treatment.

Prior to the kickoff of the Mill Creek versus Dacula game, Markham was presented with a letterman jacket and a plaque to commemorate the field naming.

Dr. Markham has been principal of Mill Creek since its opening in 2004. He served as principal of Berkmar High School from 1994-2004 and was a teacher and assistant principal at Parkview High School from 1991-1993.
