New Mill Creek High School Principal Announced

Retiring MCHS principal Jim Markham's successor announced at called school board meeting.

Duluth High School Principal Jason Lane will be transferring to Mill Creek High School in Hoschton, Ga. in the coming weeks.

Located in northern Gwinnett County, Mill Creek High School is the largest high school in Georgia with an enrollment of 3,357 students.

During a special called meeting on Friday (Nov. 9), the Gwinnett County Board of Education named Lane and three other veteran educators school principals due to the retirement, transfers, and departure of current principals.

The school board also approved Dr. Brenda Johnson as the new principal of Centerville Elementary. Dr. Stacey Schepens will serve Crews Middle as its new principal. Lilburn Middle will welcome Dr. Yvette Arthur as its new leader.

Lane has served as principal of Duluth High School since 2008 and formerly was assistant principal at North Gwinnett High and Brookwood High. He previously was a French teacher, football and soccer coach at Hephzibah High in Richmond County, GA, and a French teacher, football and basketball coach at Crawford County High in Roberta, GA.

He has bachelor’s degrees in French and secondary education from Valdosta State University, certification in the practice of the French language from the University of Caen, and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Augusta State University. He is currently completing Nova Southeastern University’s doctoral program in educational leadership.

Lane transfers to lead Mill Creek High due to the retirement of Dr. Jim Markham. Lane is a graduate of the Gwinnett County Public Schools 2007 Quality-Plus Leader Academy, Aspiring Principal Program.
