Pageant Held to Recognize Unique Qualities of Girls With Special Needs

Inaugural Miss Portray Pageant event a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

The inaugural Miss Portray pageant was held Friday, Sept. 30 at .

The was created by students Lauren Davlin and Jodi Dills.

Six participants took part in the event. Those contestants and their titles included:

  • Hannah Hubbard – Miss Portray 2011 and Most Poised
  • Emily Ferguson – Best Smile and Shining Eyes
  • Taylor Johnson – People’s Choice and Cutest Dress
  • Alanna Simone Opara – Miss Portray Sweetheart and Friendliest Contestant
  • Taylor Matyas – Miss Photogenic and Most Stylish
  • McKensey Johnson – Miss Congeniality and Most Spirited

Proceeds from the event benefited the American Cancer Society.

As a booster involvved with this event, I must say it was not only amazing but inspirational. These two young girls came to us with such passion and conviction of what they wanted and were appreciative of how it came together. We came to realize that although "Special Olympics" is wonderful, not everyone wants to be an athlete. Some want to be a "princess".
