Summer School Registration Begins Soon

Everything you need to know about summer school, middle school career camp and more local school news here.

Registration for summer school within the Gwinnett County Public School System will open in early May. Summer session is offered to provide students the extra time and opportunities needed to learn material prior to the new school year beginning in August. Multiple options are available for students to choose from when earning credit or recovery credit from summer school.  A brief description of these options is listed below.

  • High School Face-to-Face Summer School will be offered from June 14-July 13 at Central Gwinnett, Mill Creek, and Shiloh High Schools.  Register online here
  • High School Online Campus Summer Session will be offered online from June 13 – July 12.  Register online here. 
  • Two summer classes for rising ninth graders will be offered – "Introduction to Health" and "Introduction to Lifetime Fitness."  Both classes are required for graduation. To learn more about taking either of these classes visit the school website here.
  • GCPS is offering Community School Summer Classes which will include a variety of sports and driver’s education courses.  For information on these classes contact the community school director at your high school.
  • Elementary and middle summer school is available for students starting on June 20 and running through July 14.  Parents will be notified by their respective schools if this is recommended for your student.
  •  GCPS Middle School Summer Camp - Those students entering seventh and eighth grade in the fall of 2011 are invited to attend a four day camp the week of June 27-30 at Grayson High School.  This camp is offered by the Grayson Technical Education Program.  Students will have the opportunity to explore career options and complete hands-on projects.  A robotics program will be offered from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.  Click here to read more.

  • student Victoria Kokinos has won the Miss. Junior Teen America 2011 which took place at the TPAC Center in Nashville. Way to go Victoria!
  • Congratulations to these students who have signed college athletic scholarships with the following colleges: Tyler Cierski (University of Maryland, football); Austin Hagan (Georgia Southern University, football); Devonte Lewis (Georgia Southern University, football); Austin Thompson (Valdosta State University, football) and  Austin Boetje (Georgia State University, men’s cross country).
  • The Dance Team won first place in the jazz division at the Kennesaw State Competition. 
  • held "Honors Night" on April 25 from 7-9 p.m. and the Spring Band Concert on April 26.
  • held their spring drama production of “Harvey.”
  • varsity boys and girls soccer teams have earned spots in the state tournament next week at Lanier Stadium.
  • held “Muffins with Mom” on Friday, April 29 and celebrated with donuts, coffee, juice and a trivia contest.
  • Gwinnett County Public Students completed the CRCT this past week.  Congratulations to all students for finishing this testing!
  • donated three bins and 20 boxes of food in their recent food drive. Great job Duncan Creek!
  • enjoyed a family movie night on Friday, April 29 with a showing of “Megamind.”
