Fountain Causes Flooding, Water Damage at Local School

Classes were moved to other parts of the building while the cleanup took place.

Staff at a local school returned from Thanksgiving break to find an unpleasant surprise.

According to Jorge Quintana, Gwinnett County Public Schools Director of Media Relations, a water fountain at Dacula Middle School caused some flooding and water damage over the holiday weekend.

"As a result, administrators quickly moved some classes to other areas of the building to keep students away from the area where the flooding happened," Quintana wrote in an email to Dacula Patch.

The cleanup, Quintana added, was a team effort with custodians from other schools in the Dacula cluster offering assistance. GCPS also had maintenance employees at the school on Monday and Tuesday.
