Sex Education in the Christian Family Seminar this Sunday!!!

Sex Education is a crucial part of parenting. Upcoming workshop addresses common hesitations regarding parent-child sexuality communication.

In preparation for the upcoming seminar Sex Education in the Christian Family on Sunday, May 5 at 5:00 p.m. at Hebron Baptist Church, (registration information attached) you may be interested in understanding a little about this topic and its importance to your family…

Did you know….

Parent-child communication in regard to sexuality information is one of the most important influences in regard to an adolescent’s sexual behavior and beliefs.

Research indicates that parents hesitate to engage in sexuality conversations with their children due to the belief that the children are too young or immature, overall parental discomfort with the topic, perceived lack of knowledge regarding sexuality, and other parental inhibitions.

Research further indicates that the frequency, breadth of topics, and comfort level of parental sexuality communication with children appears to be even less among parents who describe themselves as religious than those who do not indicate any religiosity.

Teenagers represent approximately 25% of the sexually experienced population, yet they acquire nearly one-half of all new Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

Studies show that children actually prefer their parents as sex educators over other resources available.

Some parents define themselves as being open in discussing sexuality topics with their children, yet they conclude that their children do not ask questions and are obviously not ready for sexuality information.  Relying on the child to question when they are seemingly ready, parents further limit the content and circularity of sex communication which then indicates to the children a lack of openness in sex communication with their parents.

There is a solution….

Parents are the most important sex educators of their children.

The purpose of this seminar is to equip parents to shape their children to make wise decisions in the area of sexuality. We seek to help our children become the kind of adults who can have deep, meaningful marriages filled with spiritual, sexual, and emotional intimacy, and who can have loving and deep family relationships and friendships.
