11U Dacula Baseball Team Finishes Second in World Series

Coach Heath Terris tells us about the team's amazing win.

The Dacula Athletic Association 11U baseball team recently finished second in the World Series in Panama.

“It was amazing,” head coach Heath Terris said proudly. “It means a whole lot of different things for the boys, and memories of a lifetime for the parents. We saw 11 kids grow up in a week.”

This young team battled through many obstacles to pull off their amazing win.

“We had to battle through tropical storm Betty Sunday and Monday,” Terris explained. “Then we lost our opening game on Thursday evening, so we had to go through the losers bracket. The first game in the losers bracket we were down four runs. I just told the team no matter what happens in our last at bat, keep your heads up high, in our book you guys are champions and we have had a lot of fun. The team ended up scoring five runs to win the game. That was the change that took them to the next -level of baseball. We ended up winning six games in a row after that.”

The team ended up losing in the championship game 7-3 against a team out of Alpharetta, but this team’s ability to work together and their drive to never give up is what makes them true winners.

“They buy into the system of teamwork,” Terris said. “You cannot win baseball games with one individual; everybody has to come together as a team. All of the kids have to believe in themselves, and that is what they did, they believed in themselves, and in the talent that they have. Each individual child did something special to make this a great series.”
