A New Star Has Risen on the Dacula Girl’s Basketball Team

Through hard work and determination, Kendelle Culpepper has become the team's lead scorer.

Dacula girls' basketball player Kendelle Culpepper has gone from not even being a blip on the radar to a starter and leader as a senior through hard work and a fierce determination.

“She has put a lot of hours in over the last two years, working on her individual game and her shots,” coach Travis Young said.

This senior’s drive and determination is the key to her success both athletically and academically.

“She is averaging double figures her senior year and has a fierce determination to win on the court as well as in the classroom,” her father Don Culpepper said.

Culpepper has worked hard at developing her game when no one is looking.

“I am eminently proud of her and what she has accomplished through a lot of blood, sweat and tears,” her father said. “In fact, you can find her at the middle school outdoor court when she is not having practice or games in all kinds of weather, trying to refine and improve her game.”

All of Culpepper’s hard work is certainly paying off this season, and she has the potential to excel way beyond her high school years.

“This year she is our lead scorer, and a hard-nosed player,” coach Young said proudly. “She works hard at getting her shot, she is focused, and has a done a good job at making herself better. She has not selected a school, but she does have aspirations to play at the college level.”
