College Football Scores: SEC Week 1

No. 2 Alabama thrashed the No. 8 Michigan Wolverines as the Tide began making its case for another national championship. Find out how the rest of the Southeastern Conference teams fared during the opening week of the 2012 season.

The top-ranked SEC team -- the University of Alabama -- got off to strong start Saturday defeating the No. 8 Michigan Wolverines in a convincing 41-14 win.

Other SEC scores from the first weekend of the 2012 college football season include:

South Carolina 17, Vanderbilt 13 (Thursday, Aug. 30) - The two teams combined for just 556 yards and several turnovers, but the Gamecocks managed to keep their SEC chances intact with Saturday's win over the Commodores, CBS Sports reports

Tennessee 35, N. Carolina State 21 (Friday, Aug. 31) - According to the Times Free Press, the Volunteers opened their 2012 season in "dazzling fashion" in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff. 

No. 3 LSU 41, N. Texas 14 - The Honey Badger may be gone, but Kenny Hilliard stepped up for the Tigers rushing for 141 yards and two touchdowns.

 - "Georgia was on fire, rushing 227 yards and passing for 258. UGA's resounding 45-23 win against Buffalo starts their season off on the right foot," according to .

No. 10 Arkansas 49, Jacksonville State 24 - Tyler Wilson set a school record for passing yards finishing 19 of 27 passing for 367 yards and three touchdowns. The Razorbacks' next big test -- Alabama on Sept. 15.

Auburn 19, No. 14 Clemson 26 - The SportingNews.com describes Clemson's win over Auburn as the only thing that kept the ACC's opening weekend from being a complete disaster. "For Clemson -- and, make no mistake, the ACC -- to lose this game would have been yet another embarrassing moment for the league," SportingNews.com reported.

No. 23 Florida 27, Bowling Green 14 - Sophomore quarterback Jeff Driskel got most of the carries in Florida's win over Bowling Green, but Jacoby Brissett is still in the running for the Gator quarterback job. Read more on the Tampa Bay Times.

Missouri 62, Southeast Louisiana 10 - The Tigers racked up 452 yards of offense behind what the Columbia Daily Tribune called a "makeshift line" after injuries sidelined would-be starters Jack Meiners and Travis Ruth.

Ole Miss 49, Central Arkansas 27 - Junior college transfer Bo Wallace threw for 264 yards and two touchdowns in a "nearly flawless" performance for the Rebels

Mississippi State 56, Jackson State 9 - The Hattiesburg American reports the Bulldogs "finished the game with 377 yards total offense and did not punt the football until the final minute of the third quarter." 

Postponed: Texas A&M, Louisiana Tech - The game has been postponed to Oct. 13 due to Hurricane Isaac, according to USA Today.

Sept. 2

Kentucky vs. Louisville - The 3:30 p.m. game will be televised on ESPN.
