Dacula Teens Gaining National Recognition

Siblings Will and Madison Hinton are elite athletes in the sport of clay shooting.

Move over, Serena and Venus Williams.  Out of the way, Peyton and Eli Manning. There's a new sibling sports dynasty on the scene - siblings Madison and Will Hinton.

Madison, 16, and Will, 14, are championship sporting clay competitors.  The Hinton siblings, along with their cousins, Gray and Clint Hinton, and friends Trapper Franklin, Alex Powell and Matt Fisher formed the sporting clay shooting team called the Claybusters three years ago.

Their success has been swift. Since forming the team, the Hintons have competed in more than 35 tournaments in 10 states and have amassed an impressive set of medals, plaques and trophies for their efforts.

While Madison and Will have already accomplished a great deal, they have bigger goals for the future, especially Will.

"I want to represent the United States in the Olympics," said Will.

Will came a step closer to reaching that goal last month when he won the junior division of the National Sporting Clays Association Championship.

JUST THE BEGINNING

These down-to-earth, Dacula teens learned to shoot while hunting with their parents and only happened upon the shooting sport when they decided on a whim to enter a tournament at Calloway Gardens.

"We had no idea what to expect," said Madison. "But we were good shots and we won."

Shortly after that intitial success, the Hintons went to another tournament and won again.  It was at this point their parents, Doug and Sharon, realized that Madison and Will had a special talent.

"We never would have imagined it would have gone this far," said Sharon.

"And it's just the beginning," Doug quickly added.
