Mill Creek Baseball Team Wins Phiten Challenge

The Mill Creek Hawks 10U baseball team recently won the USSSA Phiten Challenge at Central Park in Cumming, going undefeated for the tournament. Coach Andy Mitchell attributes the team's success to focusing on the fundamentals and positive thinking.

“Since this is our fall team we are working on fundamentals and player development for spring,” Mitchell said. “We have a very good group of boys that keep things positive and play through adversity.”

More than half of the team’s spring players play football, so they have had the pleasure of bringing in some great players for the fall team from other travel teams and from Mill Creek rec ball. The group has come together nicely to form a powerful team.

“We have a great mix of power and speed,” Mitchell said. “Our pitching has always been our strong point. We look to defending our title in the spring. Fall has been great for working on skills and developing our players.”  

Coach Mitchell believes that Mill Creek continues to produce some of the top baseball talent in the area. He appreciates all the support his team receives from the community and fans, and invites everyone to come out and see all of the great young talent on the fields.

Last year’s record: Last Spring Mill Creek won the 9U GGBL championship and went 15-3 in the regular season.

This year's record: Won the Phiten Challenge and have gone 7-5 so far in GGBL

Team accomplishments:  Winning the Phiten Challenge and going undefeated.
