Mill Creek Soccer Player Breaks School Record for Goals

Lauren Tanner, the leading goal scorer for the varsity soccer team currently has 20 goals, which is a school record for the girls. This star forward is definitely on fire, and in fact by the time this article posts her goals might be well over 20.

“She is definitely the focal point of our offence,” said Brent Leitsch, the Mill Creek girls' varsity soccer coach.

Tanner was named a preseason Gwinnett Super Six, and her effort on the court has a lot to do this and her many other accomplishments.

“Her personality on the field is very driven,” Leitsch said. “She is extremely hard working and very competitive. She hates to lose at anything she does.”

But with all that competitive drive, Tanner is also a team player.

“Being the great player that she is, she is still very humble and wants to make the players around her better,” Leitsch explained. “She leads by example. She is one of the hardest working players at practice day in and day out and that has been contagious with the other players.”

Tanner is not only excelling on the soccer field, she works hard in the classroom as well.

“Lauren is a stellar athlete and an excellent student,” Leitsch added. “I think she has probably made only one B in high school. All of the teachers will tell you she is a great student and a great person.”

Tanner is an amazing athlete, and it is not surprising that this junior already has a UGA commitment!
