Star Soccer Player Leads by Example

Dacula Soccer Club (DSC) player Ashley Lewis has scored an amazing 18 goals in her last nine games. Coach Karl Hedley says that Lewis is a team captain that leads by example.

“I can’t say enough about Ashley,” Hedley said. “She wears the captain's arm band with such pride. She does everything I ask her to do and there is not a game that goes by that she doesn’t do something that makes me and Coach Andy look at each other with amazement.” 

Lewis plays center midfield, but her coach says that she could play anywhere. It could be because of all the hard work and determination she puts into every practice. 

“She is on time for every practice and misses very few each season,” Hedley said. “She always listens to instruction and despite her already high level of ability she works very hard at every practice.”

As with any great athlete, Lewis understands the importance of playing well with team mates and developing strong skills individually.

“She helps encourage the team,” Hedley explained. “She has recently developed a good understanding with the players around her and they all pass and keep the ball well together. Individually, she needs to be watched to believe her ability. She is strong, athletic, very skillful and has a low center of gravity so her balance on the ball is amazing and she not easily pushed off.”

Lewis’ ability to shine on the soccer field often turns a lot of heads on game day.

“After nearly every game this season the opposing coach has commented on her ability,” Hedley added.
