Strong4Life: Tired Mom + Pizza = Happiness

We've all been there. And by "there," I'm talking about being on the verge of pulling your hair out (assuming you have any left) because everything is imploding—or exploding—at home.

We’ve all been there. I’m sure even Brad and Angelina, with their small army of nannies, have been there.

And by “there,” I’m talking about being on the verge of pulling your hair out (assuming you have any left) because everything is imploding—or exploding—at home. At my house, it’s usually due to a perfect trifecta: everyone is tired, everyone is cranky and everyone is hungry—all at once.

“There” often happens when you’ve already worked a full day, then run all over town taking your kids to activities. You’ve helped with homework and walked the dog. You might even have spent your lunch break shopping for your kid’s science project materials. Oh, and the project is due tomorrow, which you just found out yesterday, so it’s going to be a long night tonight.

Now it’s almost dinnertime and the kids just want to chill in front of the TV. You let them because you’re exhausted and you don’t want to incite a riot by saying no. Then, you can save the day, and make everyone happy (maybe even get them to clean their room—or the hamster cage—and start the science project) by announcing that you’re ordering pizza tonight for dinner!

Like I said, we’ve all been there. We’ve given up, given in, just to put a smile on their faces.

While we all need a “path of least resistance” once in a while, I want to introduce you one mom and daughter who are stepping up instead of giving up by trying out healthy changes at home. This isn’t easy, but this is real.

It’s actually one of our “Journey” videos that features real life families who are becoming Strong4Life. If you like what you see, check out the rest of our Journey videos, too.

Strong4Life is a movement created by Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta to address the childhood obesity medical crisis that is threatening nearly one million kids in Georgia. For information about Strong4Life visit our website, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Strong4Life Blog.
