It's Official - Now I Am a Photo Blogger

We here at Patch have been encouraging people to try our blogging platform for quite some time. Editors typically have not blogged though because we have the ability to post elsewhere on the site. There are, however, two problems with that:

1. What if I want to share something non-Patch related?
2. How am I supposed to know what blogging is like if I don't give it a try myself?

If you are reading this, you are reading the solution to those two problems.

I like to take photos, but I am not a photographer. I make no claim to be a photographer. I just like taking photos. The iPhone has been a wondrous gift in that regard. Wherever I am, as long as I have my phone with me, I can snap a photo or video.

Oftentimes I take photos that have absolutely nothing to do with Patch, so what do I do with them? Sometimes I post them on my personal Facebook page, sometimes on Instagram, but why not on Patch? Mainly because I always think of Patch as my job and not a way to share a hobby (Can you call taking iPhone photos a hobby?).

Anyway, I decided I would give blogging a go and see if I liked it, see what blogging is like for you, the reader, and see if anyone else has a couple of thousand photos on their iPhone camera roll like I do. If you do, let me know in the comments or start your own photo blog and let me know what you think about the setup (look for the "start blogging" link on the home page toward the bottom of the page). I work on Patch all the time, so I know what to expect. I don't know if the steps are as clear for those who don't routinely use the platform. Your feedback (which can also be sent straight to Patch using the green "feedback" tab on the right side of the page) is very useful as our engineers work to improve the platform.

A little bit about today's photos:

I was in Alabama yesterday. I grew up in Gadsden, Ala. which is only a short drive away from beautiful Weiss Lake in Cherokee County. I could take I-20 to go to Gadsden from Dacula, but I prefer to go up 75, through Cartersville and Rome and then through Cedar Bluff and Centre. It is just a prettier, more peaceful drive. Along the way, I stopped to take these photos.
