5K Fundraiser to Benefit Dacula Child

Six-year-old suffering from rare disease that has resulted in numerous complications and mounting medical bills.

Grab your running shoes and head to the on Oct. 8 for a of Dacula.

Whetstine suffers from a rare disease called Mowat-Wilson Syndrome. In his short lifetime, Whetstine has undergone 17 surgeries and spent over 400 days in the hospital. He requires speech, physical, occupational and special instruction therapy. He also has an immune system deficiency that requires hospitalization for IV therapy.  According to race organizers, medical bills continue to mount placing a substantial financial burden on the family.

The proceeds from the Oct. 8 Pumpkin Pacer will be used to help defray the costs of Whetstine’s ongoing care. The event will include a fun run that begins at 8 a.m., followed by a 5k race at 8:30 a.m. as well as a costume contest. There will be a cash prize for the top male and female finishers.
