Celebrate Recovery Helping People Overcome Life's Hurts, Habits and Hang-ups

Hebron Baptist Church's Celebrate Recovery program helps people overcome the challenges of life.

These are stressful and challenging times we live in. With news of terrorism, political infighting, a struggling economy and natural disasters dominating the headlines, it’s no wonder our nation is filled with people who are more stressed out and anxious than ever before.

Add to these the stress of living life in this face-paced information driven age and it's no wonder that in America many families are being torn apart while others are turning to unhealthy dependencies on a variety of different things to deal with life.

It is during times like these that people are in desperate need of something relevant and special; something that will touch them spiritually and offer deep and real healing.  It’s during times like these that people need programs like Celebrate Recovery.

Celebrate Recovery is a nationwide program offered locally at Hebron Baptist Church.  The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to help people overcome any and all of life’s habits, hurts, and hang-ups.

The program includes both a large group format and smaller share groups.  Share groups topics include obsessive compulsive disorders, alcohol addictions, adult children of alcoholics, sexual additions, chemical dependency, survivors of physical/sexual/emotional abuse, eating disorders, depression, unforgiveness, freedom from anger, co-dependency, dealing with past and present guilt and shame.

Celebrate Recovery also includes a teen version called The Landing which is doing a lot to help teens who are caught in the middle of challenging life-situations. Most teens do not know how to cope with a family that is being torn apart by divorce, abuse or addictions.  The Landing seeks to step in and help out these teens who often feel like no one cares about them.

“I’ve been working with the teens for about four years now and I can't tell you what a gap this fills for a lot of teens who are dealing with their parents' divorces, their own addictions or other life issues,” said Lynn Bacon, a volunteer who works with The Landing. “I’m excited about what God is doing in these young lives.”

The goal of The Landing is to help teens identify and overcome unhealthy behavioral patterns that that are present in their personal situation, patterns that would otherwise entrap them down the road.

Hebron’s Celebrate Recovery also has a program called “precovery” for elementary age school children whose families are in crisis.  There is also a group dedicated to helping parents who are enduring problems with their teenage or adult children.

Celebrate Recovery at Hebron Church meets on Monday nights.  The night begins with a dinner at 6 p.m. which costs $3 for adults and $1 for children. Dinner is followed by a large group time at 6:30 p.m. and then topical share groups at 7:30 p.m.
