Dacula Residents Lead 'Tutus for Tatas' Fundraising Efforts

Dacula residents have lots of opportunities to serve their community. Check here each week for a new opportunity in or near our hometown.

Have you heard of the Tutus for Tatas? This team of men and women, including multiple Dacula residents, formed six years ago with 28 members and has now grown to include 98 walkers. The Tutus for Tatas recently surpassed the $1.1 million dollar mark making them one of the largest fundraising teams in the country.

The Tutus for Tatas have already raised over $70,000 for the 2011 year and still have several large fundraisers scheduled. On Aug. 20, this team will host its fifth Annual “A Taste of Hope” luncheon and fashion show featuring breast cancer survivors who will be modeling fashions by Christopher and Banks. This event will take place at The Bridge Community Church located on Braselton Highway in Buford. Television host Denny Moore will be serving as the master of ceremonies and entertainment will be provided by local singers and dancers. The event will include a live and silent auction, a gourmet buffet lunch and more. Last year this event raised over $14,000 for the cause. Tickets to attend are $40 ($20 for cancer survivors) and tables for eight are available for $250. All ticket purchases are 100 percent tax deductible.

The team founder and captain is Dacula resident Barb Mock who is featured in several 3-Day inspirational videos. Other team members from Dacula include Patti McBee, Michele Laughlin, Leslie Long and the team’s two youngest members Victoria Mock and Allison Frederick.
