MCHS Key Club Sponsors Second Annual Reindeer Run

Register now for the second annual Reindeer Run sponsored by the Key Club. This is the second year for the Reindeer Run a 5K fun run in Dacula. that raised approximately $2,000 for the American Cancer Society. This year proceeds from the event will benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

“First and foremost, our main goal is to raise money for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. There are a lot of kids who are devastatingly ill and it is always awesome to help out in any way possible," wrote Carlie Teschner, MCHS Key Club President, in an emailed statement. "Key Club is about uniting the community in any way possible. I have lived in Dacula my whole life, and I know that it is a place where people come together to make good things happen. Hopefully the Dacula community will continue their old traditions of service and come support us at the Reindeer Run.”

The MCHS Key Club is primarily responsible for organizing the event with help from the North Gwinnett Kiwanis Club and .

“The MCHS Key Club is responsible for organizing this whole event, with a lot of help from David Williams at Kiwanis. HMUMC hosted the event last year and it went very well. We are so grateful that they are willing to let use their church for the Reindeer Run again this year,” Teschner added.

This 5K and Fun Run will begin at Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church on Registration for the run is $20 through Nov. 25 and race day registration will be available for $25 per runner. For an additional fee of $5 participants may choose to attend a pancake breakfast with Santa at the church following the race.

“Last year was our first time to organize the Reindeer Run and the Key Club was not sure how the event would turn out. We were so grateful for the many people from the Dacula community who came to the run and attended the breakfast last year. We owe our success to the many volunteers who came together to make the event successful,” Teschner wrote.

The Mill Creek Key Club is an international, student-led organization in which student members choose to participate in various opportunities to provide service, build character and develop leadership within the community.

Registration for the upcoming Reindeer Run is available through the Mill Creek High School Website.
