Support Our Troops Night at DHS

The Dacula and Archer High School soccer teams will have a benefit game for our troops in Afghanistan on March 25.

The Dacula and Archer High School Soccer programs have teamed up for a special patriotic soccer game in honor of our all our troops and in doing so want to give people in our area a tangible way to help a unit of our troops in Afghanistan.

The games between the Falcons and Tigers will take place Friday night, March 25. The soccer action will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the girls’ kickoff, followed by the boys at 7:30 p.m.  will be wearing special camouflage jerseys in honor of our military personnel.  North Gwinnett High School’s ROTC will present the colors prior to both games.

At the gate, the teams will be taking a collection of non-perishable items that will be delivered directly to the troops.  Monetary donations can also be made to offset the costs of getting the items to the soldiers.  Everyone who makes a donation will receive a raffle ticket for prizes that will be awarded at half time or in between the games.  The military unit that will be receiving these donations has a former Dacula High School student serving in it.  See the brochure image in this article to see a list of the items needed for our troops.

Tickets for the game cost $4 for students and $5 for adults.  All military personnel will receive free admission to the game and a special recognition will be made of all current, former, and retired service members as well as their families at half time and in between the games.  Dacula head soccer coach Michael Burrell says his kids “always get excited about giving back to the community through special events like this.”  This is the first time these teams have done this specific event and they hope that it will be the start of a new tradition.

Dacula’s girls’ team is 7-4 overall and 2-2 in the region while the boys’ have an excellent 8-2-1 record overall and are undefeated in the 8-AAAAA region.  Friday night will be a great night to come out and enjoy excellence on the soccer field and excellence in community spirit and sacrifice.
