You Can Help This Dacula Girl Fight Childhood Cancer

Dacula residents have lots of opportunities to show their support for one another. This time let's come together to fight childhood cancer!

Did you know September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month? Dacula residents have the opportunity to support a very special child from our hometown of Dacula. Allison Guy was diagnosed back in February of 2009 with ALL Leukemia and is one of the 2011 CURE’s Kids whose fight against this disease will be highlighted by the CURE Childhood Cancer “Kids Conquer Cancer” initiative during the month of September.

Allison was diagnosed with ALL Leukemia just before her third birthday. According to her family this amazing young girl has endured nine ER visits, 10 hospitalizations, bone marrow aspirations, numerous spinal taps, blood transfusions and intense rounds of chemotherapy.  Allison completed her chemotherapy in May of 2011 and has recently started kindergarten cancer free as she is currently in remission.

By participating in the CURE Childhood Cancer’s “Kids Conquer Cancer” event in September, families and friends of young cancer patients commit to raise at least $1,000 in their child’s memory or honor. Over the past two years this program has raised approximately $350,000 for childhood cancer research and patient and family support.

According to Allison’s family and friends she is a “true trooper who handled all these invasive treatments with grace, dignity and patience.”

If you would like to support Allison and her family and help them meet their goal of raising $1,000 in honor of Allison and other young girls and boys who have fought or are currently fighting this disease visit the CURE Childhood Cancer website and make a donation.
