What Do You Think About the Concept of Social Media Couples?

Couples aren't just signing on to joint bank accounts anymore, they are also signing on to joint Facebook accounts.

The new movement in social media, according to Marshable.com, is Facebook couples. Yes, you heard right, going solo is not always the way it is anymore when it comes to being someone's Facebook friend.

Marshable.com reports that a July 2013 Social Psychological and Personality Science study shows couples who share information about their relationship on Facebook report being happier and more secure in that partnership. So maybe going that one step further and actually sharing a Facebook account is the way to go.

However, relationship therapist Suzana Flores, Ph.D., told Marshable that there is a role for healthy autonomy in every relationship and when couples have a joint Facebook account it doesn’t really reflect that autonomy. As it is, Facebook was blamed for one-third of divorces in the U.K. in 2011,  according to Divorce-Online, a UK legal services firm. Flores said that seven out of 10 of her clients discuss their partner and relationship behavior on Facebook.

What do you think? Would you recommend couples Facebook accounts? Or do you think that is a little too much “togetherness” and a little more autonomy is healthy in a relationship?
