Oh yeah, AL. . . sounds to me like a fake review; and if you are real . . (yeah right) - you think it's ok for the waiters to TALK about other customers to you? Sure does sound like AL has a vested interest in this restaurant - say maybe an owner. We have been there twice and will NEVER be back. Hostess is "out there" and the waiters are RUDE. If you ask for a manager, low and behold, you are told "We are all managers". HA HA. It's a joke really. Sure hope they decide to turn the air conditioning on this summer. Nothing worse than eating seafood in a sauna. It's really too bad, a good seafood restaurant in Dacula would be nice.

Nice review...(cough cough) AL. You sure are interested in this restaurant even to the point about asking owners about a past customers online review.
I wonder why you take so much interest , AL.
Maybe, just maybe you are not really AL, but Kim trying to deflect another bad (but honest) review of the horrible service here
I don't think these owners have time to write fake reviews on the patch or any social media site. They are professional, hard working and have a goal for their future. From what I gathered in supporting them for months, they own a few different businesses and are very loyal to people that support them. They are decent people making a living and doing they know how. The food speaks for itself. Best I've had since leaving Florida!
I must start off by saying, when you visit a resturant you shouldn't have a list of what's not suppose to happen or what you expect to happen. Case in point, DaculaDad wrote a false review and didn't tell the whole story. After 15 minutes of discussing menu items with the server, I was told, by the people at the fish house, these two people had a whole bunch of allergies and special request to the kitchen an that's why the appetizer arrived after the meal and MR. DACULADAD was aware of this. So for him to post a negative review and not tell the whole story from each side is a little biast. IF I was him and had that many allergies, I would stick to vegetables or something not on their menu as we all know, butter, salt, pepper and seasonings make eveything taste better.
I was also told he was a nice person that left a good tip, but very demanding and when he was told he couldn't order something they don't have on the menu, he raised his voice as if he is entitled to get what he wants.
Visit this place for great food and great service.
The reason for the huge difference in reviews is because the ones complaining are legitimate customers. The ones with the rave reviews are the owners, Kim and Roxie, making things up so it doesnt look as bad as it is
I like this place. We had TWO WAITERS on Saturday night serve us. One would check on us and when that one went away another one would come check to see if we were doing good. They were so attentive! We will be back for sure. Food was very good and was actually impressed with the crab cakes. When the waitress suggested the crab cakes as a special for dinner we stopped her and told her we were from Maryland and know good crab cakes. She was confident in what she was selling and she was ABSOLUTELY RIGHT --THEY WERE DELICIOUS, FILLED WITH JUMBO LUMP CRABMEAT AND NO FILLER OR BREAD CRUMBS. They were accompanied by fried onion slices and french bread.
All in all we were very happy with the food we ordered and the service we had.
Have eaten at this restaurant lots since they opened last June. The food is delicious and the waiters are very friendly.
I think a lot of folks have an agenda when they visit this place. It seems they read these reviews, which some I don't think are true, go in for dinner and look for things to pick at. You should experience things for your self. I would definitely recommend this all my family and friends.
WOW! There seems to be something strange about this place. I have never seen so many "HATE THIS PLACE!" and also "LOVE THIS PLACE." Could it be that the owners only want "CERTAIN" types of people coming back. Some visitors rave others are THROWN OUT! Would love to know why there is such a difference of opinion. Or could it be they on purpose only treat certain people politely, or could it be that since they are a "family run" business, they think their behavior IS fine? I do not want to have a bad experience dining that is going to cost $60. SO I will give them one more year and if they are still in business then I will go see if they throw me out for not liking cold fish or over seasoned anything! Maybe a personal problem?
Just a bit of a drive but Gulf Coast Grill on Lawrenceville Suwanee next to IHOP is great seafood restaurant. All seafood brought in fresh daily. The oysters are excellent.
I had high hopes!! They've been here a year so maybe they were good? Well - I don't expect another year without a change in management! The COOK knows how to broil seafood but then its downhill from there. We had two different servers take parts of our order and even after I asked them if our orders will be OK - they continued this tag-team approach. So - of course - they completely forgot our appetizer and after 25 minutes , brought out our entrees. Immediately, I told the server to 86 the appetizer we never received and regarding our entrees - one was salmon, not the scallops I ordered ($26) so back it went. (Kim said it was her fault - she cant read her own handwriting - hmm) . 3 minutes later - the appetizer shows up 'anyway' - the're going to COMP this, NOT!. My wife was served Tilapia though she was told it was the grouper she ordered ( again - hmm - Tilapia $15 , grouper $25). Then ANOTHER 25 minutes later, my scallops showed up. The steak-fries on the plate were the same ones from the previous plate and re-heated ( brown ends and hard). The grilled broccoli was just that, grilled - no added flavor. Finally - the scallops WERE delicious and so was the'mystery' fish . Overall - good fish but, - TERRIBLE service and attitude. (They did comp $25 but I still left way too much money for that type of attitude/service. Hope they keep the cook and replace the waitstaff!
We have eaten at this restaurant 5 times since they opened. The first time, great food and great experience. The next few times, good food but very bad (SLOW) service. It has been about 5 mos and we ate there again tonight. It was a bad experience. We were seated for about 10 minutes before the waitress came to the table (only two other tables of people in the restaurant). We both ordered the steamed shrimp, they asked if we wanted spice or no-spice. I chose none and my husband chose spice. It was all so very hot that it was almost impossible to eat. The corn and potatoes included and you could tell they were all cooked in the same 'water'. When we 'complained' the waitress said ' oh yes, you should have ordered no spice' which I told her I did. She said' the kitchen must not have noticed that on the order.' She took back most of my shrimp and about 5 of my husbands (he loves spicy food but this was MEAN!) and brought us back a small dish of 8 shrimp. I really expected some sort of adjustment on the check but nothing was said. The owner even came by and said 'so your food was too hot?"
This is just not good customer service on any level of dining. I don't expect them to make it in the business.
The poboys are pretty good actually and that's what I used to order here. One star for owner who likes to argue with customers in-store and on the interwebs.
Fish-house people: Suggest you watch Ramsey's "Kitchen Nighmares" (the BBC version) for some tips on how important the "Front-of-house" experience is to customers.
If you guys decide to stop by I hear they may have a special "healthy option" where you can sub broccoli for your fries. Just ask about it at the counter.
I have been to the restuarant twice. During the week night and on the weekend. Food is excellent!! However, the service lacks alot. They just need to make a decision as to who is the waiter, who is the cook etc. Too many people all trying to do the same job. Wasn't even sure who should get the tip. Unorganized. If you can stand the unorganization and having to ask several times for the same thing, and your order not being quite right, then you'll be o.k. Like I said, the food is excellent!
So delicious and so fresh. I am a local business owner and take all my employees out to eat once a week and each week they request The Fish House. We all enjoy po-boys, soup and salad for about 9.95. Great price if you think about the quality and how they prepare it. We're going to support this restaurant as much we can.
The food is not overpriced at all. Very well worth it. Portions are large and filling. If you are on a budget and are looking for "a bang for your buck deal" you might be better off at Captain D's or Long John Silvers!
Oh, an the Salmon is only 14.95. I 've had it and it was seasoned perfectly. Came with two sides of my choice which a salad or vegatables was definitely options. The side list is HUGE. Check it out for your self. You'll be impressed
I was not impressed at all. I would not have cared about the high price if the food was worth it. I had Salmon smothered in What tasted like Emirls essence. Had to scrap it off to find the fish. They also served one boiled potato with the same essence smothered all over it. No Veg or salad for $18.00+ dollars. The waitress acted like it was a chore to wait on us. A smile goes a long way! I will never return.
We love this place! The food is great and the music it great too!
We always have good service when we go!
Food OK, service terrible and the manager is so rude. Three strikes, never again.
Great food great service. Seems like some folks forget the rising price of fuel, on the boats that catch it and the trucks that transport it, has gone through the roof. Ditto for the cost of seafood. Those Daculan's who expect a cheap catfish joint would serve themselves better by hitting Captain Dee's. I have visited this restaurant many times and my experiences have been nothing but pleasant. Thank you Kim and Tad.
Well, finally caught them on a night they were open, and must admit, after all the negative postings here, I wasn't expecting much. Perhaps it was because of lowered expectations, but I was much impressed. Food was truly fresh and outstanding, and service was prompt and attentive. Can't complain at all--I'll be going back, soon and often.
very high priced, lousy service.I was at home after work did not feel like cooking, so i decided to try the fish house. I love fried sea food, food was so-so. I was sitting at the bar and there may have been 5 customer at the time and this customer walked in and they noticed he owned a motor cycle shop and you would have thought he was the only customer in the restaurant. I was as was the other customer completely ignored. The whole time I sat there the owners/employess were arguing the whole time. I had oysters and shrimp basket 2 glasses of cheap red wine, my bill was $ 42.00 bad service and so-so quality of food,,,,,will not go back and i live 1/4 of mile from restaurant,,,,, what a shame
Had a wonderful late lunch with my sister.Fried Shrimp basket was made perfect,She had Fried Grouper fingers perfect also.Tad was a great server. Will be going back soon.
I beg to differ with a lot of these negative comments made about The Fish House. I stopped in yesterday afternoon with a few friends and we all enjoyed everything we had. The service was excellent and the food was even better. I normally don't order salmon when eating out because a lot of restaurants will underseason it or not cook it how I like, but I must say the salmon I had yesterday was seasoned perfectly and cooked very well. My friends also enjoyed their dishes. The best part of our luncheon was the Beignets the server brought out for the birthday girl. Delicious!
It’s unreal, in my opinion, how the Fish House gets this many positive ratings. Been there two times and both times service was ridiculously slow. Food was poorly prepared - last nite ordered salmon with so much seasoning on it that I could hardly taste the salmon. Scraped it off before eating it. The baked potato was boiled and mushy. The sauted mushrooms were okay but had green onions in with the butter and lots of salt. They ran out of hush puppies by 6:30 p.m. Not once did the server check back to see how our meal was. Suppose to be three strikes and you're out but after two times – Never, ever again!!!
My wife and I normally don't Google or read reviews about restaurants before visiting them. We simply visit new, independent restaurantas and draw OUR OWN conclusion about our visit. We believe every diners expierence is different. Naturally, people are genuine an nice and there is no reason for anyone to be rude to anyone. Servers are great people with hard jobs.
We got to the restaurant around 7:30 and had a great time. It was busy, everything seemd normal. Good service, got our appetizers and drinks along with dinner in an acceptable amount of time. Darlene and I both enjoyed the fresh grouper with jumbo lump crab meat on top of it and I have to say it was way better than the one they are advertising at Bonefish Grill. It was cooked perfectly.
Thank you fish house for opening in Dacula, Georgia.
RUN RUN RUN TO THE FISH HOUSE AND TRY THE BLUE CRAB
PO-BOY. IT WAS SO GOOD MY SON AND I HAD ONE FOR LUNCH AND ONE FOR DINNER AN WE PLAN ON GOING BACK TODAY TO TRY OTHER STUFF.
TRY THE BLUE CRAB PO-BOY
My husband and I ate at the Fish House recently. The prices were above what we normally pay (we are older folks who live on a fixed income) but certainly in line with a fresh seafood restaurant. We ordered the whole catfish and it was cooked to perfection by someone who loves seafood. Not over cooked and the batter was perfect. We really enjoyed our meal and our waitress was not rude but helpful. We did not see any of the rudeness mentioned in previous posts. I hope that the restaurant will continue serving this really good food and if the wait staff has problems, they will quickly take corrective measures. It would be a shame to lose this restaurant for our area.
To peoplemustknow:
You must not read very good!
Let me restate!....I love the food at Fish House. In fact, we get food there often. We love it.
I myself have never been treated rudely. My statement about fixing the issue with the waitstaff is...we want you to stick around! If you develop a reputation for being rude (as I've read online about the Crab Trap) then I would hate to see you close because of that.
Your rude remarks to me I guess prove the other posters correct!
Again...WE LOVE THE FOOD....but please do not get defensive if others think the staff is rude. Take a look in the mirror, because history says that this may be an issue.
My Goodness, I have never seen so many negative comments on one restaurant in my life, Sounds to me that the owners are calling the people that make negative comments out back ??? Well I thought about going there, but after ALL THESE comments as well as almost throwing up in my mouth after reading the fine print on the health inspection report.score 69 ???. well, NO THANKS. gave them a middle of the road since i was not willing to dine in..
at the fish house now -- just had an order of Beignets and they are delicious.
my friend and I both had the grilled tilapia/shrimp over cajun rice with creole sauce for dinner which was out of this world......
we eat out a lot and I have to say this place is better than Bonefish and Red Lobster. This real seafood that hasn't been frozen ten times over.
We visit the fish house once a week an had another good meal.
I've read some of these reviews and will support this restaurant as much as I can. Awesome food, good people and excellent service. All I can say, is go for yourself and rate your own experience.
Try the crab cakes. Pure jumbo lump crab meat, no filler. Would recommend to everyone.
I don't know what some of these sarcastic reviews are all about. I have been a loyal customer since the first week they opened, never had a bad meal nor bad service. It's a great place to have Cajun and there crab cakes are almost as good as Maryland ones(98%).
GREAT SERVICE AND EXCELLENT MENU.
I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THE SHE CRAB SOUP. RICH, CREAMY AND TONS OF LUMP CRABMEAT.
Just had an amazing meal at the fish house where we hosted our Christmas party there for family and friends. Everyone was impressed.
I had the fried jumbo shrimp with light breading, hush-puppies and slaw. Reminded me of gulf coast seafood. Our server was full of laughter and we will be back.
We'd like to welcome them to the neighborhood and think everyone should check it out for themselves.
absolutely delicious! my husband an I dined at the fish house for lunch today an had a very pleasant experience. i had an oyster PO boy with some steak fries -- the oysters were fried perfectly. my husband had the pure jumbo lump crab cakes which were out of this world. we've eaten at a lot of seafood restaurants in Georgia and not a lot can compare to the quality of this place. also, our attentive and gracious server was very nice and was happy to have us as customers.
we would recommend this restaurant to any of our friends and will be back soon
this is for the sam mr sam i think you are quiet jeaslous and not sure where you get your information but if you hae the money i hae the time facts are great and your postings are bogus ! look me up secretary of state you have embarrassed your self why dont you come to introduce yourself face to face i am real person and i am here everyday !!!
Bad. That is all I can say. I hate it too cause I really had high hopes for this place. Fish was not cooked all the way and when I complained to the server (a guy with a very bad attitude), he snatched up my plate and said if you don't like it leave. Will NEVER EVER go again!!!!
Bad service, rude staff, overpriced mediocre food, is nothing new to these people. They owned two other restaurants that I am aware of. The Crab Trap in Suwanee, Maryland's Crab House in Alpharetta, and now The Fish House in Dacula. If history repeats itself as it often does. It is only a matter of time before this carnival of fish and the carnies that peddle it pick up and move to the next town to victimize its customers; with their unique brand of rudeness and bad service. The comments I found on The Urban Spoon have that all too familiar ring to it. An obnoxious heavy set woman yelling and screaming at her customers and threatening to call the cops, rude/bad service, and disorganization. Some people just don't learn. Pretty soon it will be time to pack up that Mercedes tell the carnies that the show is over and bring this carnival to some other unsuspecting town...

Have yet to go...
but there are lots of mixed reviews and will give a fair chance for an honest one. I have been in the food business for almost thirty years and know how things can go from bitter and sweet you either end up with the one you never thought you would, or you deal with both. I dropped in looking for a go menu and was treated kindly by a friendly lady and told they have a menu on line. I haven't seen one yet, but have read lots of reviews... and some real dramatic ones at that!
I'll visit soon.
The server Tad is a Stalker
Horrible Service!!!
We arrived and ordered our drinks, a beer for my husband and a sweet tea for me. The tea was not sweet at all, they brought me another, still not sweet. A very nice young lady made fresh and brought it out to me, it was sweet this time and we thanked her very much!!
Now here is where the trouble begins, my husband got his gumbo and it was cold, they took it back and nuked it. He said that it was very good! His shrimp and my salmon arrived, I took a few bites of my salmon and hit raw fish. We caught the hostess going by because we had not seen our waiter for awhile and she took it back to the kitchen. Finally our waiter came by and asked if everything was alright and we asked him to check on the salmon that had been returned. He came back with it and it didn't look right, so we asked for the manager.
The manager arrives and asks us what the problem was, with attitude. I began to explain to her that we have had problems since we sat down and ran down the list. She said exactly what problem are you talking about. She yanked my food off the table and said she was getting our check. I paid the check and left, we will NEVER go to this place again!!!!
Had an unbelieveably bad experience at The Fish House! Will never go again. Waitress ignored us, screwed up the order, and then charged us for items we never received. Had to go line item throught the ticket to get a corrected total for a miserable messed up meal. Horrible experience.

Hi, I am an employee of The Fish House, this goes to the jerk that posted the comments about the server tad (He is AWESOME and thats why everybody comes to the fish house because of his sister and himself). This strange guy has never worked for Fish House he was the trash guy for outside hired by a staffing company his name is James king he was ask to leave the fish house yard job because he was touching his private parts to the female staff here and verbal harassing people, James King was also charged in public records for stalking a school teacher in in Gwinnett County court records. Come visit us at The Fish House!!!
I worked here and I have to say that this is the worst job I have ever had.
My decision to quit came when the server Tad who in my opinion is flamboyantly gay insulted me and my recently deceased father by saying it was my bad karma that caused my fathers death.
They have since refused to pay me my last two checks despite my multiple attempts to collect. This was money that I needed to travel to take care of my deceased fathers affairs. This was told to the other server/manager Kim so they were aware of the reasons why this money was important to me but chose not to pay me anyway.
I have never in my life worked for such a deplorable bunch of people. This is a family business where they all yell, scream, curse and throw food and drinks at each other.
I am obviously opinionated in my feelings towards this place but ask yourself would you support anyone who chooses to act this way.
I am really disappointed in the reviews. We have been twice and totally enjoyed our experience. If you have traveled to NO, Gulf Coast....the seasoning and food selection are on point. Dacula and Gwinnett are limited with authentic NOLA, Gulf Coast food. I will support this restaurant and if your decision are between this restaurant/food and Joe's Crab Shack, or Red Lobster....you know absolutely nothing about Seafood..LOL
I experienced horrible service the one and only one time I have been to the Fish House. The food was ok, I got the shrimp creole and it was so spicey and hot I couldn't eat it. The server was overworked and appeared to be the only one there but didn't apologize for the extremely slow service. A lady was there but didn't appear to be doing anything at all in terms of providing customer service. We spent over $70.00 for a mediocre night and meal out. We will just continue to go to BoneFish Grill, spend less, have a pleasant night and great customer service.
I also experienced the worst customer service ever & the exact same tell off by the same lady. That is exactly what happens! It goes from just bad customer service to the extreme if we react negatively or make any comments about what is going on and she will literally tell you off, throw you out, state they don't need our business, etc rather than addressing the issue, apologizing, or having another team member step in if she does not care to be involved. This is obviously a HUGE issue that many local people are complaining about. It is NOT just a case of a bad day...it is again literally getting told off or thrown out if her bad attitude is any way commented on, questioned, or addressed. Food is mediocre and pricey, BUT the poor customer service and a recent 69 score on their HEALTH INSPECTION report is the icing on the cake. We are a SMALL community and we all go to the same parent meetings, soccer games, and churches...PLEASE TREAT OUR COMMUNITY MEMBERS WITH MORE RESPECT FISH HOUSE!!!!
I went once and will NEVER GO BACK! Paid over $100 tab and experienced the WORST customer service from the owner/manager that I have EVER exeperienced. Also, I pointed out serval pricing errors including a 'special' that was more than the cost of ordering two of the same thing off the menu! They said it was indeed incorrect and it would be fixed...doubt it has and customers ordering the special are being duped into paying extra....just order two off the menu for cheaper! The manager basically told us they did not care if we ever came back...and we WON'T! K.
Decent food. Overpriced. Small portions. Long wait. Overwhelmed staff.
I have always done take out. the food was amazing, the flavors were Great. I always sit at bar order my to go meal and leave. No one was ever rude to me. I will continue to go and I will also tell them about these comment i read. I believe in telling a person to their face their shortcomings that's the only way they can improve. If I receive negative feedback i will report it here also.
Very disappointing. Restroom was something you would find at a gas station. The AC does not cool sufficiently and fans were placed around the restaurant.. The ambiance would be consistent with restaurant in the $8-12 range, instead, the range was mostly $14-28 range. I ordered the Fried Haddock Dinner. The actual fish was less than 1/8" thick and could not be tasted at all for $14. I ordered my fries and many were still raw. My wife ordered the crab cake. Her crab cake had a cornmeal crust that was not to her liking. The overall flavor left much to be desired.
Service was very sub-standard as well. We will not return.
I was treated very rudely at The Fish House restaurant Friday evening. I wrote about it at length on the blog for The Dacula Patch. I will never go back there again. I told the manager just that and she walked away and waved me off. With restaurants opening and closing so quickly in this economy, it is surprises me that an owner/manager would have so little concern about her customers.
peoplemustknow, geez. Take a breath! I don't understand why you are going off on Greg. He was not being critical of the food, but was only commenting on the customer service as many many others have in this blog. The good news is that usually it is the food that will make or break a new restaurant. That is a tough thing to fix. In this case, it is a simple tweeking of service that is in play. That should be a pretty easy fix. I too have eaten at the Fish House and had a very good experience. There were just two servers, the brother (Tad I think is his name) and his Sister. They were working their butts off trying to serve everyone. I can understand if they get a little bit irritated with customers considering it is just them. So the fix might be to add some help, which by the way, I think they will do considering the help wanted signs on the front door as of late. If they can solve the help issue I think this place will be just fine. And Greg, I DO hope I run into you around Dacula.....to buy you a beer!

greg rodgers you are the must biggest liarer about this restauraunt , i know for fact you have your information wrong and if the someone paid you to write this rediculious review then you need go to priest and ask for forgiveness these folks have good food. and are from florida/ lousianna / they are family and work hard serving the patrons so you have problem greg i hope i dont run into you around dacula!!!!!
Hmmm? I've only done take out so I only know that the food tastes great!
However, I see many folks say that the wait staff is rude.
The owner should take notice of this, seeing how when she had this restaurant opened before under a different name the placed closed down due to rude wait staff and poor service.
I am under the impression that the wait staff may be her family members (sons, daughter and mother).
If you are reading this give your kids a time out or hire a real wait staff.
That being said....your food is very good!
I am typically very hard on local restaurants, and rarely will I give a good review unless I feel the place deserves it. I don't make excuses either, because in my mind, the restaurant business is too difficult unless your going to do something good. I have eaten here at least 6-7 times since they opened. I came back because the food is very good for the area. The service is hit or miss, but to me, I don't care if the service is excellent if the food is worth it. I do hope they get better at service, as I want this place to be around. The fish/food is always fresh, well seasoned, and tastes great. Sometimes they need to think the dish out a bit, as you can pay close to $20 for a dinner and the plate looks empty. Other times it looks like you get a ton of food for the $$. For me, you can't get seafood this good pretty much anywhere in Gwinnett, so I accept some of the shortcomings, and hope they will get better. To clear up some of the other reviews. This place has never been dirty, at least not to me. I've never seen a bug in the light covers. Yes, depending on where you sit, it can be a bit warm. Don't sit in the way back, try to sit in the front if you can. The wait staff can come across rude, but after being there several times, I honestly think it is not intentional. The older lady is just not big on personality, but she isn't rude. The main waiter always has a smile on his face. The female waitress needs some help on attitude. Love & Support this plac
Ugh. . . extremely horrible and rude service. I'm not sure who taught customer service to the servers but good grief. They obviously do not know that customers are what keeps a restaurant in business and the majority of people do not like to be treated like they don't matter. It's too bad because the food is good, but I can go elsewhere for good food that comes with service AND a smile.
great food . best sea food this side of alabama.great louisiana cooking. just needs to put mexican restaurant out of business and move in building .
Gave the Fish House another chance tonight....... My wife and I went with some good friends a few weeks ago and while the food was good, the service was pitiful. 15-20 minutes to have drink order taken, server was rude when asked about substitutions and the temp. in the restaurant was at least 80 degrees plus. While the food was great, the service was severely lacking.
Went again this evening with my father in- law and again the restaurant was unbelievably hot. He ordered the catfish and was told that it came with fries, slaw and hushpuppies. Food was served but no huspuppies. Told the guy who brought the food, to no avail. Server swung by and he said that they were making fresh pups. We watched at least 4 table being served "complimentary" hush puppies and as we were almost done with our meals we told the server to forget the pups. I tried to explain that while the food was very good, the service was sub-par. He flew off the handle and told us that it was the kitchens' fault and not the "service". I smiled and said they were one and the same. Our server walked off while telling us " if you don't like it. ..tuff. Don't come back ". We paid our bill but I will guarantee that we will take the time to drive past this establishment on the way to Red Lobster , Joe's Crab shack or even the Redd House in Nicholson, before we patronize this restaurant again !
We tried The Fish House for the 1st time Saturday the 21st. We made reservations and only waited about 5 minutes after arriving. The hostess seemed very scatter-brained. There were only 2 servers working the entire restaurant. We were seated and waited about 10 minutes for a waitress to take our order. She didn't give you time to ask questions without popping off short, snippy answers. We were given a sharp "NO" concerning substitutions. With that said, the food was extremely good. Portions were good and well cooked. Everything came out fresh and accurate. We will definitely be going back, chalking up the first experience to a learning curve with the staff.
We enjoyed our first visit here on a week night shortly after they opened. The food was passable, although the portions seemd small for the price. We decided to give it another try and went there yesterday afternoon (6/30) around 3:00. There was only one table filled when we arrived, and they were just finishing up dessert. The hostess was talking on her phone most of the time we were there. We were the only table, up until just before we were finished, when another couple was seated. We once again found the prices (even lunch) to be much higher than either the quantity or quality of the food warrented. The deciding factor for us was the condition of the restaurant. Our table, the windowsill next to it, and the entire floor we could observe were all filthy. The translucent covers over the lights in the ceiling were absolutely FULL of dead insects. As our waiter brought appetizer plates for the complimentary hushpuppies (which are delicious), I observed him blowing what I assume was debris off one of the plates. Needless to say, we did not use the plates! Since neither of the employees was busy during our visit, their time might have been better spent cleaning some of the dirt that surrounded them and us. We cannot help but wonder, if the observable areas are in this condition, what the condition of the kitchen might be. We will NOT return to this restaurant.
I will give one star for tasty food and my buck stops there or at least I wished it had. Here is why...following dinner our bill and bank card were switched with another costumer's. We did not realize it until the next day, after a substantial amount of money had been spent out of our bank account. When we returned to the restaurant and explained what had happened to the manager, she became extremely defensive instead of concerned .We received no humble apology, no empathy for us or the other individual and her language and demeanor were crude and offensive. Mistakes are made but rudeness and an uncaring attitude are unacceptable.
We have been here twice once on 6/26 and again today 6/30. Great food, and lots of great potential. They need to work on the service aspect though. We were told 20 min wait when tables were available and 3 parties ended up walking out. I don't know if its because they don't have enough staff but one server told the older lady taking names not to seat anymore because she was not "caught up yet" Once the service improves this will be an awesome place and a nice addition to Dacula.
We went on 6/26 with friends...No wait on Tues nite around 6:45. Nice addition to the Dacula area...surprisingly cute considering that it is literally attached to the Shell station. The food was very fresh and I loved my crab cakes...but it was pricey. My husband and I had Crab cakes and grilled Shrimp and Tilapia with a couple of sides and we split a really good piece of Key Lime pie.. we ate for around $60 with tip. The entrees avg. between $16-24...so it's moderately priced and doesn't come with a salad or bread. Their liquor license was pending..so I guess that we will add another $20 to that. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is great...we will definitely go back again.
What a disappointment! I was so excited to try the new restaurant in our area. We arrived about 6:30 on 6/26. No wait--cute place, fun music, nice staff. Food portions were more than adequate. My rice pilaf was just plain tasteless rice, the onion straws were too salty and the shimp and grits were mushy. Maybe they will get better. It is three minutes from my house so I certainly hope so!
We attempted to have dinner at the Fish House on 6/23. It was the WORST experience we have ever had at a restaurant! The owners/employees were unbelievably rude. After waiting almost 1 1/2 hours, we were finally seated only to be told by our server that he didn't have time to take our order. Needless to say, we left and will NEVER go there again. I gave one star because it wouldn't allow me to give them none.
food portions a little small for the price you're paying. Prepare to wait for awhile when they are busy, they are still not prepared to handle the busy times and they have had some busy times already. The food was good, but again, we walked awaystill hungry and considerably lighter in the wallet
Yep...like 3 seconds left on the scoreboard and the kicker hits the game winning field Goal....IT'S GOOD!!
I too tried the fried shrimp platter. These are Jumbo fried shrimp and ooh so tasty!!..A day later we tried the scallops wrapped in bacon. These are huge sea scallops....very good!! Heading back soon to try some more tasty treats off of the huge menu.
Great food, service and atmoshphere. We tried it last Saturday and were delighted to discover really good seafood prepared right. The three of us ate the crab claws, clam chowder, gumbo, fried shrimp, shrimp and grits and oyster poboy. All were the best we've had in a long time. It's so nice to have a place like this nearby. It's something we've waited a long time for and now we don't have to wait for trips to the Gulf to experience this kind of magnificent dining. Please check it out - I want this place to be around for a long time.
I have to admit, I was skeptical of this place given its location. It is after-all attached to a shell gas station and in a very odd place for a restaurant. My son and his date tried it last week and he went on and on about how it feels just like a beach side restaurant and how amazing the food was. He is 18. He thinks McDonalds is a gourmet hamburger. Being that I am a seafood junkie, I had to see for myself. My wife and I decided to have a quick dinner on a Thursday night thinking, what the heck...it wont be crowded. Wrong! We were greeted at the door by a very friendly young woman who sat us immediately. The music immediately caught my attention....Blues! The environment is delightfully tacky with fish mounts, black and white photos of sixties rock and roll bands, hand painted rough walls, tin wall coverings and an over-all beachy-vacation-hole in the wall" feel. I already liked it. Our server was attentive, friendly and informative. While we waited, he brought out complimentary hush puppies. Yup...something so simple can taste so good. The menu is extensive with everything from shrimp, grouper, oysters, scallops, crab, lobster, flounder, lobster and more. All cooked anyway you like your fish cooked. They also have New Orleans style gumbo, clam chowder and much more. I ordered the fried shrimp platter and my wife had a large bowl of the clam chowder. Both were really really really good! Give this place a try! I cannot wait to try a shrimp po-boy!
Great food, fantastic friendly staff! Very welcoming when we arrived, and service was perfect. Very extensive menu and the seafood was wonderful. Highly recommended!

It seems if the management would take more time trying to take responsibility for what seems to be a common experience, in their restaurant and work to make it better they would have a fabulous business going there. My experience was similar to what others describe, slow service, wrong food being brought. We also looked at the bill and no one had been charged correctly for what they received. All the charges were more of course including one open charge of $60.00 that no one could tell us what it was for. By the time we brought a menu over and sat by hand reconstructing what our bill should be we had almost been overcharged double. Several of us work in restaurants so we are sure we did it correctly.. At that point the owner was steaming. Another server (her daughter I believe) at that point came over and intervened and corrected everything and did apologize but we were all quite taken aback. It is a shame because the place has such potential to be a fabulous place that could make them a nice living if they could correct the rude, slow, inconsistent service that obviously many a customer has received. If they would not try to be sneaky in overcharging and realize your customer is your bread and butter not your child to be berated for behavior you don't like (that's how we were treated). The atmosphere s awesome the food good. Reviews are there as a positive feedback to let you know how to turn it around. Smart owners use them as such.
