Since that time, the campus has expanded with the addition of a media center, additional classrooms and a gymnasium. The most recent addition, a four-story building completed in 2004, allowed all of the school's students to once again be housed under the same roof after eight years of reliance on portable classrooms.
Dacula Middle School was one of the schools profoundly affected by the rapid growth in the area which began in 1997. By 2003, Dacula Middle School had approximately 3,000 students. To accommodate the large student population, more than 100 portable classrooms were moved to a field behind the school. The area became known as "Falcon Village."
Despite these challenges, the school received the Georgia School of Excellence Award in recognition of the school's high academic achievement and has also been recognized for greatest gains in student achievement as measured by the CRCT (Criterion Referenced Competency Tests).
