Christmas Tree Recycling to Benefit Area Parks
Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful asks residents to 'Bring One for the Chipper.'
Twenty pounds. That is how much the average Christmas tree weighs according to Gwinnett County Clean and Beautiful. The average tree is also bulky – taking up nearly as much space in a landfill as a washing machine. Gwinnett County Clean and Beautiful estimates over 1 million Christmas trees have been diverted from landfills since the "Bring One for the Chipper" program began in 1984. For the past five years, Gwinnett County residents have recycled more trees than any other group in the state. Beginning Dec. 26, area residents can take undecorated trees to one of 28 sites throughout the county. In Dacula, Christmas tree recycling locations include: Trees may be dropped off until Jan. 15.
