Gwinnett County Police are searching for leads in an April 30 burglary at Harbins Park. Police were contacted after an individual noticed two all-terrain vehicles -- a Polaris 250 and a Honda 300 -- were missing from a storage building. According to the GCPD report, there were no signs of forced entry. Though the storage area contained other expensive equipment, nothing else was taken. According to My Fox Atlanta, the ATVs are the property of Andy Fullard, the baseball director of the Archer Athletic Association. The ATVs were used to help groom and maintain the baseball fields. Instead of opting for the traditional hammer or brick, a burglar decided to go a more unconventional route and use his vehicle to smash the front glass doors of a Dacula convenience store. At 3:01 a.m. on March 23, Gwinnett County Police were dispatched to the Fast Trip convenience store on Winder Highway in response to a burglar alarm. Upon arrival, the officer discovered the smashed glass doors, but no one was on the premises. A representative of the business arrived a short time later and played the surveillance footage. A Braselton Highway medical office burglary was discovered on Feb. 24 after the owners of an adjacent business noticed an open door and a hole in the back wall of the doctor's office. The owners notified the doctor who then contacted Gwinnett County Police. Officers cleared the building and then asked the doctor to check for any missing property. The doctor advised that nothing had been taken and no drugs were kept on the premises. The doctor informed the officer he had received a call from his alarm company the previous day, Saturday, Feb. 23, after the burglar alarm was activated. A Hamilton Mill Road business was burglarized on Jan. 20, but strangely nothing was taken. A Gwinnett County Police officer was dispatched to Redooz, located at 2725 Hamilton Mill Road, after an employee at a nearby business noticed the front glass of Redooz had been smashed. The officer checked the inside of the business, but found no one inside. When the officer entered the business, the alarm activated but there was no record of any previous alarm notifications from the business. Once the owner arrived at the scene, she checked the business as well and indicated that nothing appeared to be missing. A Dacula man returned home to an unwelcome surprise on Jan. 15. According to the Gwinnett County Police report, the man went to work at approximately 7 a.m. on Jan. 15. When he arrived home around 5:20 p.m., he found the front door of his house had been pried open and that his home had been burglarized. Part of the door frame was found on the living room floor just inside the door and pry marks were visible along the door and door frame near the deadbolt. The only item reported missing from inside the residence was a laptop computer valued at $400. The man also advised a weed eater valued at $150 was missing from a storage shed in the back yard. A Dacula woman believes her granddaughter may be responsible for a burglary in which nearly $1,200 worth of tools were stolen. The woman said her granddaughter, who she described as having a “drug problem,” came to the residence on Jan. 14 at approximately 1 p.m. to ask for money. The woman refused to give the granddaughter any money and, after about 10 minutes, the granddaughter left. According to the police report, the granddaughter returned to the Eastside Drive residence several hours later, again asking for money and was again refused. After the second visit, the woman realized several tools had been taken out of the garage and told police she believes her granddaughter is responsible. A burglar or burglars did not make Christmas merry and bright for a Hamilton Mill resident. Gwinnett County Police were called to the 3300 block of Lamont Terrace on Christmas Eve after a resident returned home to find someone had burglarized his home. According to the police report, the resident left the home at about 11 a.m. When he returned at 7 p.m., he noticed his iPad 4 was not where he had left it. The resident then walked into his kitchen and noticed the back door of the home had been forced open and damaged. The iPad 4 has an estimated value of $600. Thieves smashed front door glass to gain access to the store.
DACULA, GA -- Just hours after a large shipment of weapons arrived at a local gun store, burglars struck the shop and stole numerous handguns, tactical rifles and shotguns. According to business owner David Duncan, Big Gun Armory received two large deliveries on Friday afternoon. Duncan said the 65 guns were immediately placed on display since store inventory had been heavily depleted due to increased sales related to the election, the Connecticut shootings and holiday shopping. One man has been arrested and two others are being sought in connection with a series of burglaries in the Dacula area. The burglaries, which began the week of Oct. 12, involved witness reports of a dark green sport utility vehicle. Gwinnett County Police were able to identify the vehicle as a 1998 green GMC Jimmy. A description of the vehicle and the tag number were distributed as a BOLO (Be on the lookout) to uniform officers. A detective developed a lead on the identity of the driver through the use of the department’s pawn shop transaction database. An Oct. 16 home invasion in which the suspects arrived at a Dacula Bluffs home in a green sport utility vehicle may be related to at least two or more other Dacula burglaries. In the Dacula Bluffs incident, a woman frightened away two home invaders by yelling at them after they broke down her door. The suspects, according to the woman and two witnesses, were traveling in a green sport utility vehicle which two of the witnesses described as a hunter green Chevrolet Trailblazer.
