Thief Crawls Under Partially Open Garage Door, Steals Item out of Unlocked Car

A car parked in the driveway was also entered.

Over $600 in property was stolen when a thief struck at an Apalachee Farms home. During the overnight hours of March 2, a thief entered a vehicle parked in the driveway of a Pathview Court home and stole a Lenova laptop valued at $500 and a cell phone charger. The vehicle owner told police her car was unlocked at the time of the theft. The thief also crawled under the partially open garage door of the residence, entered a vehicle parked inside the garage and took a GPS unit valued at $100. The resident said the garage door had been left partially open to allow their dog to go outside. The vehicle parked inside the garage had also been left unlocked. Both cases are listed as active. Car Break-ins Reported at Mill Creek High School, Hamilton Mill Tennis Courts and Little Mulberry Park

A handgun, iPad and laptop among the items taken.

Gwinnett County Police are investigating several recent car break-ins, including two in which the locks on Ford vehicles had been defeated. On Feb. 16, a Hoschton couple discovered their 2004 Ford Expedition had been entered while they visited Little Mulberry Park. According to the police report, the door handle was damaged and the assembly partially removed from the door. The man's wallet, which contained credit cards, identification and cash, was taken. Another Ford Expedition was broken into on Feb. 14 in the Hamilton Mill subdivision while the driver played tennis. According to the report, the door lock had been pried open. Nothing was reported missing. The Expedition was one of two vehicles broken into at the tennis center that day. …

Vehicle Damaged During Hamilton Mill Car Break-in Attempt

Perpetrator was unsuccessful in attempt to gain access to the locked car.

A Hamilton Mill resident called police on Jan. 13 after discovering her vehicle had been damaged during an attempted car break-in. The Hillgrove Drive resident told police she parked her vehicle in her driveway at approximately 5 p.m. on Jan. 12. When she returned to her vehicle the next morning, she noticed the door handle was hanging down on the side of the door and the lock was also hanging outside the door. The vehicle, a 2011 Honda Accord, was still locked. There were no items missing from the vehicle and no other damage. The case is listed as active. Keypad Pried off Car Door at Park, Two Guns Stolen

Purse, wallet, phone and other items also taken

A thief or thieves stole two guns and numerous other items during a Nov. 11 car break-in at Little Mulberry Park. According to the Gwinnett County Police report, the thief or thieves pried a security keypad off the driver’s side door of a 2008 Ford F-150 to gain access to the interior of the vehicle. A Glock 17 9mm pistol, a Beretta 96 .40 caliber pistol, a purse, wallet, cell phone, identification and a credit card were stolen. The victims told police they had parked the vehicle in the equestrian lot of Little Mulberry Park at approximately 3 p.m. When they returned to their vehicle two hours later, they discovered the damage and the theft. Recent Car Break-ins Reported in Little Mulberry Park, Hamilton Mill

Stolen items include cell phones, GPS unit and other items.

Hundreds of dollars worth of personal property was stolen in recent weeks after valuable items were left unsecured in vehicles in the Dacula area. During the overnight hours of Oct. 27, an HTC cell phone valued at $500 was stolen out of a car parked at a home on Lake Heights Circle in Hamilton Mill. The vehicle, a rental car, had no signs of forced entry and is believed to have been left unlocked. Nearby in Hamilton Mill, another vehicle was entered at a Ridgemill Circle home between 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26 and 10 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28. A GPS unit valued at $150, a wallet, a Leatherman-type utility tool, a driver's license, credit card and debit card were stolen. The vehicle had no signs of forced entry. Man Leaves Window Cracked, Thief Seizes Opportunity

A man who told police he left his window open “just a little” ends up a crime victim.

Cracking a window may help fight the heat, but it is not much use in fighting crime. A Dacula man locked his truck doors, but left his window cracked “just a little” while he visited Del Rio on June 29. When he returned to his vehicle, he discovered his Kenwood radio was missing. According to the police report, the dashboard had been taken apart and several pieces were missing. The stolen radio was valued at $300 and the cost to repair the damage was estimated to be $150. The case is listed as active. Woman Reports iPad Missing After Movie Theater Visit

The victim was unable to advise if she had the iPad with her in the theater or had left it in her unlocked car.

A Gainesville woman reported her iPad missing after a recent visit to the Hamilton Mill 14 movie theater. The woman said she had her iPad with her when she went to the theater on the afternoon of May 25. The woman was not sure if she took the iPad into the theater with her or left it in her unlocked car. The woman did not notice the iPad missing until later that day. Movie theater personnel were unable to locate the iPad in the theater and no surveillance footage was available. The woman estimated the value of the missing iPad at $600. In a separate incident, a Dacula woman reported her wallet and cell phone missing after a May 24 visit to Gold’s Gym. Car Window Smashed With Mother, Child Just Yards Away at Playground

A Hoschton woman’s visit to Duncan Creek Park ended with a police report and the loss of her wallet, credit cards and her daughter’s Social Security card.

Once again a brazen thief has smashed a car window in broad daylight to gain access to the interior of the vehicle. On the afternoon of May 11, a Hoschton woman and her daughter were visiting the playground at Duncan Creek Park. The woman's car, according to the Gwinnett County Police report, was parked less than 50 yards away. When the woman and her daughter returned to their vehicle at around 5:30 p.m., the woman noticed the rear driver’s side window of the car had been smashed. The woman’s wallet -- which contained her credit cards, debit cards, driver’s license and her daughter’s Social Security card -- had been taken.
