Georgia Southern 14, No. 5 Georgia 45 – Despite a slow start, the Bulldogs (10-1, 7-1) got the job done Saturday against Georgia Southern. “Did Georgia come out a little flat, a bit sloppy and probably unfocused against an FCS opponent? Clearly,” wrote Jeff Schultz of the AJC. “But after what the Bulldogs have overcome in the past few weeks, a letdown should not have come as a surprise. Most importantly, they recovered.” Next week, Georgia closes out the regular season at home against Georgia Tech. In other SEC action: Ole Miss 35, No. 7 LSU 41 - LSU (9-2, 5-2) narrowly managed to avoid an upset Saturday, escaping with a 41-35 win over the Ole Miss Rebels (5-6, 2-5) in the last few seconds of the game. “The No. 7 Tigers got more than …

By the half, the Gators had a 21-6 lead and things only got worse from there as Florida cruised to a 44-11 victory. As Matt Hayes of the Sporting News noted about Florida, “They don’t miss tackles, aren’t out of position and have a killer instinct in the second half. They’re so physically intimidating on both sides of the ball, the quarterback --the most important position on the field -- just has to stay out of the weeds.” The Gators (7-0) host No. 11 Georgia next week. South Carolina (6-2) welcomes the Volunteers to town. In other SEC action Saturday: No. 1 Alabama 44, Tennessee 13 – …
