Dacula Patch: What is your most popular dish? Stanjevich: Our most popular dish, besides the 14 different chicken wing flavors, is the Loaded French Dip.  Dacula Patch: What makes this dish great? Stanjevich: This is a wonderful sandwich because of the quality of the meat as well as the cooking process involved.  We only use a USDA Choice Top Sirloin, and we cover the meat with our special Dry Rub recipe.  We then slowly braise it in the oven until it is cooked.  After that, we trim all the fat off, thinly slice then beef and load it up with sauteed mushrooms, onions and melt …

Located at 2559 Pharr Ave., Amy La Faye's has gained popularity and a following in the community for their homemade, fresh biscuits and breakfast. Wilder Rosales is one of the owners of Sazon Mexican Grill and Cantina Bar located at 1700 Winder Highway inside the Stars and Strikes shopping center in Dacula. Opened in October of 2010, Sazon offers patrons a taste of Mexico, Cuba and Peru. I recently sat down with Rosales to talk about the restaurant. Patch: How did you come to own Sazon Mexican Grill? Wilder: I was in Florida in the restaurant business. The partners I worked with decided to call it quits, so when I moved to Georgia I had $100 in my pocket. I went into the construction business. Rodd Seigel is the owner of Menchie's Frozen Yogurt shop, located at 2463 Hamilton Mill Parkway inside the Publix shopping center. Opened on Aug. 13 of this year, Menchie's offers a wide variety of frozen yogurt flavors and toppings to satisfy any sweet tooth. I recently sat down with Seigel to talk about the shop. Kenny Garren and his business partner Brian Hume opened up the doors to Holy Smokes Barbeque in 2006. In July of this year, the restaurant moved to its new location at 1862 Auburn Road Suite 117. Don't be surprised if you see Kenny or his wife and kids helping out. I recently sat down with Garren to talk about Holy Smokes. Patch: How did Holy Smokes get its start? Kenny: Both Brian and I worked at InTouch Ministries in Atlanta and eight years ago I had the bright idea to cook turkey breasts for co-workers to make some extra money. After being around for close to 10 years, Dos Copas, located at 2463 Hamilton Mill Parkway Suite 210, came under new ownership in 2006. Matt Pollard, the general manager for the restaurant, started as a server in 2008 and worked his way up to his current position.  I recently sat down to talk to Pollard about the restaurant. Patch: How did Dos Copas get it's start? Matt: Dos Copas has been in this location going on 15 years. About five years ago it was bought from the previous owners by two brothers Paul and Flay Dalrymple. They have since put a spin on the traditional mexican by adding a fresh zest, baja theme. The food is hit or miss. Sometimes pretty good, others lousy. One day the cheese dip is hot and smooth, the next cold and hard. Service at a table in the bar area is terrible if the bartender is also waiting tables, in particular with one female bartender. The employees who have been there for a while are great.   more ›

Tim White has been barbequeing for many years. Located at 465 Dacula Rd., Tim's Rib Joint offers authentic barbeque at reasonable prices, from pulled pork to beef brisket to barbeque chicken, all of White's meat is made fresh and smoked in house.
