The Great Escape: Friday Night is Date Night

This Friday from 5:30-9:30 p.m. it's date night for you and your someone special. No babysitters, no problem!

Let’s take a second and review the “Great Escapes” we have covered for the month of March.  The first one was for you and your girlfriends, hanging out and showing your artistic side at Magnolia’s in Lawrenceville.  The second was a great family day geocaching, no pressures from everyday life while you are searching for treasures in the great outdoors.  Then last week I gave you a suggestion on how to escape for 15 minutes all by yourself with no real planning.  So what is for this week you may be asking - it’s easy too.  How about a night with that someone special or, if you’d rather, a night all to yourself?  No babysitters planned, no problem, you don’t need it this week.  The “Great Escape” for this week is from 5:30 until 9:00 p.m. on…

The Great Escape: 15 Minutes for You

Get somewhere 15 minutes early and take an escape!

Did you escape last week and do some geocaching with the family?  If so, I hope you enjoyed yourself.  This week the “Great Escape” is just for you, however you won’t need babysitters and you don’t even have to rearrange or plan anything special to escape this time, in fact no-one will even know you took an escape except for you.  Do you feel like you never get just 10 or 15 minutes to yourself?  If you had 15 minutes alone and you could do anything you wanted what would you do?  No, I don’t mean what could you get done that you need to do, I mean what would you like to do?  Here is how this came to me … My youngest son started preschool this year and I had just left the store where I saw a new Paula Dean Magazine that I thought looked …

The Great Escape: Morning Coffee

Sit back and enjoy your cup of joe.

Something as simple as drinking a cup of coffee all alone can be a great escape.  This time can be spent just relaxing.  Whether it's 6 a.m. and everyone is still sleeping or it's 8 a.m. and the family is off for the day, turn on your favorite television show and sip your java. Every now and then I have to splurge on good coffee.  I enjoy driving to Starbucks and getting my favorite coffee drink: decaf mocha, no whip, four pumps of mocha.  This is my way of saying thanks to me.  Sitting in the parking lot and people watching is more than just that, it's my time away.  No one is calling my name, no one needs me to get juice or snacks and no one is telling me we are out of toilet paper.  The silence in my car and warm coffee in my hands …

The Great Escape: Date Night

Do you save money for a night out?

You get up every morning and go to work.  You come home to start dinner, make sure the kids get a bath and open the mail.  It's a fact the bills are going to just keep rolling in.  You need to find a way to set money aside for a baby sitting fund or for date night. Every other week I have an automatic withdrawal into my savings account.  It is a small amount that I barely even notice is gone.  I do however notice it at the end of the month when I want to go out and do something fun! You can escape in the comfort of your living room.  Date night can be right at home.  You finally have everyone in bed and the house is quiet.  Jump in the car and take a quick drive to a movie kiosk.  Red Box is a great place to scoop up a good movie.  They …
