The Gwinnett Braves will show their support for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing with a special night to raise funds for the families affected. On May 7, the G-Braves will play the Boston Red Sox's minor league team the Pawtucket Red Sox. First pitch is at 6:05 p.m. at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville. The first pitches will be thrown out by athletes who played in Boston at one time or another. They are: Five dollars from every ticket purchased at gwinnettbraves.com/boston using the promo code "STRONG" will be donated to OneFundBoston.org and benefit the victims of the Boston Marathon tragedy. Talks are ongoing with the county-owned cable channel, the team says.
The Gwinnett Braves are in discussions to have some of their games shown on the county-owned TVgwinnett channel, a team official said. Media Relations Coordinator Nick Margiasso said recently that the team is planning more discussions with county officials, although details are sketchy. G-Braves General Manager North Johnson could not be reached for comment. The G-Braves are the Atlanta Braves' top minor-league team, in their third season in the area after moving from Richmond, Va. They play a 144-game schedule (compared to 162 for the major-league teams), half the games at Coolray Field. The Mill Creek Little League participated in Dacula Night with the Gwinnett Braves at Coolray Field on Thursday. The little league Ranger team met multiple players, had baseballs signed and accompanied players to the field to hang out and sing the National Anthem together. Here is a look at Dacula's own.

The team's annual Fan Fest is Saturday at Coolray Field.
You know spring can't be far away when the boys of summer start getting ready for baseball season. In Gwinnett County, the Gwinnett Braves will be holding their annual Fan Fest on Saturday (March 5) at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, near I-85. While the players are honing their skills at spring training, fans can get a taste of the park and the atmosphere. There will be a National Anthem contest to start the day. Individuals and groups can audition for the opportunity to sing "The Star Spangled Banner" at a Gwinnett Braves home game.
