Sheriff’s Office Issues Warning About Work From Home Scam

An advertisement refers to a fictitious woman from Lawrenceville, Ga.

The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about a fraudulent online make money from home scam. The advertisements, which usually begin with “stay at home mom makes $$$ a month,” mention a woman by the name of Amy Livingston who is referred to as a mom from Lawrenceville, Ga. “This Amy Livingston is not from Lawrenceville Georgia. In fact investigators learned the website was registered in the Ukraine,” wrote Lt. S.W. Smith in a press release. The Sheriff’s Office encourages citizens to carefully research any money-making ventures. “Sheriff [Butch] Conway wants to caution the community that the Amy Livingston that is used in several of these online advertisements and e-blasts in not from Gwinnett County,” Smith added.  “If …

Deputy Arrested in Dacula for DUI

Concerned citizen reported seeing man drive in a circle in the middle of I-85.

A Gwinnett County Sheriff’s deputy is on administrative leave following a June 26 arrest for driving under the influence. A Gwinnett County Police officer stopped Melvin Robinson Jr., 40, of Dacula, on Fence Road near Highway 316 after observing Robinson driving well below the posted limit, weaving, crossing a solid white line and nearly striking a curb. According to the police report, a caller reported seeing a black GMC Denali drive in a circle on I-85 northbound, north of Pleasant Hill Road. The caller advised the vehicle was traveling very slowly and weaving “all over the road.” The caller provided police with the vehicle tag number. I agree with Gary. It's like trying to teach teenagers to drive obeying traffic laws, when the police car next to you (not on a call) is speeding, running a red light, not stopping completely at a stop sign, etc. I see it all the time. Our teenagers have no respect for LEO's because of the bad behavior of some.   more ›

The following Dacula residents were booked into the Gwinnett County Detention Center between Dec. 17 and Dec. 25. Those arrested and their charges include: Jermaine Barker, 2500 Harbin Spring Cove, Dacula, was arrested on Dec. 25 on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute. Deborah Felton, 1061 Wildwood Wake Bend, Dacula, was arrested on Dec. 23 on charges of following too closely and DUI. Jimmy Karrow, 2550 Harbins Mill Drive, Dacula, was arrested on Dec. 22 and charged with failure to maintain lane, open container and no valid license.
