Handgun Stolen During Home Burglary

The victim told police the burglar might have been looking for a roommate he kicked out "for selling drugs and bringing them into the residence."

A stainless Taurus semi-automatic .45 caliber handgun was reported missing in a home burglary on Nov. 15 in the 80 block of East Park Street in Buford. The victim told police he believes the suspect(s) may have been looking for his ex-roommate. A Gwinnett County police report indicates that the victim had previously "kicked out his roommate for selling drugs and bringing them into the residence." Read more on Buford Patch. Dacula Woman Attacked by Man She Met Online

Suspect grabbed the woman by the neck and place a towel over her face to keep her quiet.

A woman said she was attacked in her Dacula home by a man she met in an online chat room. The woman told Gwinnett County officers she contacted a man she met online and gave him the address to her home. The man asked if he could come over and the woman told him that would be fine. On his second visit to her home, the man brought another male with him that he identified as his cousin. According to the police report, the cousin pulled out a gun and pointed it up into the air. The cousin then grabbed the woman by the neck and began choking her. The woman reported that she was pushed to a bed, held down and told to "shut up and be quiet." Drunken Hitchhiker Gets Ride to Jail

Police found the Dacula man in the middle of the road, frantically waving his arms.

A Dacula man narrowly avoided getting hit by a police cruiser after attempting to hitch a ride home in the early morning hours of July 25. At approximately 3:40 a.m., an officer was dispatched to Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road near Whitehead Place in response to a report of a man trying to flag down passing cars. The officer spotted the man, later identified as Andrew Welch, 21, of 1794 School House Trace in Dacula, standing in the eastbound lanes and waving his arms frantically as if trying to get the attention of motorists. "I was startled by him being in the roadway and swerved to my right to avoid striking the male," the officer wrote in the arrest report. Arrestee Says He May Go Back to Dealing Drugs

Man arrested for solicitation complains that if he cannot earn an honest living, he'll just return to his previous occupation of drug dealer.

Old habits really do die hard. After his arrest on solicitation charges, a Dacula man complained to Gwinnett County deputies that he would go back to dealing drugs if he couldn't make an "honest" living. Gwinnett County Police were called to the 2000 block of Katie Ann Lane in Dacula on July 19 after a homeowner called to report a male was knocking on doors and, if no-one answered the door, walking around to the back of the homes. The caller provided police with a physical description of the suspect. An officer located a male matching the description given by the caller walking in the roadway near Harbin Oaks Drive. Victim Says Girl He Met Online Stole His Car

Vehicle later used in Cobb County shoplifting incident according to police.

A Bethlehem man's date failed to work out as well as he perhaps may have hoped after the woman, who he met online, allegedly stole his car. The man told Gwinnett County police that he picked his date up from a Lawrenceville apartment complex on June 1 and then he and the suspect went back to the victim's residence to spend the night. The following day, while the victim was getting ready to go to the mall, the suspect left with his Cadillac El Dorado and keys. The victim said he spoke with the suspect several times by phone and she promised to return the car. When she did not, the victim went to the Gwinnett County Police East Precinct to report the theft. Buford Man Charged with Felony Murder in Connection with Sister's Death

Gwinnett Police have charged a Buford man in connection with his sister's slaying.

Gwinnett Police said Thursday morning that they have charged a man with felony murder in connection with the slaying of his sister in Buford. Dennis Roger Puckett has been charged with felony murder and aggravated assault over the death of Vickie Bowles, 54. Bowles' body was discovered by police Wednesday during a welfare check in the 300 block of Powers Avenue. Both the victim and the suspect resided at that address. Police spokesperson Cpl. Edwin Ritter said officers discovered the woman's body on the floor of her apartment. Police found signs of violence and blunt force trauma about her body. Ritter said the investigation is continuing.

Duluth woman shot, killed intruder who confronted her with knife in her home as she exited shower.

Gwinnett Police have released a recording of the 911 call made by a Duluth woman after she shot the knife-wielding intruder who attacked her at home last Wednesday (May 11). Her assailant, identified by police as Israel Perez Puentes, 34, of Alpharetta, died later from the gunshot wounds. The incident occurred about 6:30 a.m. when Punetes entered the home in the 2800 block of East Mount Tabor Circle in unincorporated Duluth, as the resident, a 53-year-old woman, was coming out of the shower, according to a Gwinnett Police spokesman. Woman Fights Off, Kills Intruder in her Gwinnett Home

Fending off a knife-wielding man, Duluth woman shoots attacker.

A Duluth woman shot and killed a man who had broken into her home during an early-morning home invasion Wednesday. Gwinnett County police said the incident occured at about 6:30 a.m. when the attacker, a black male in his mid 20s, entered the home located in the 2800 block of East Mount Tabor Circle while the resident, a white female in her mid 40s or early 50s, was in the shower. "She was exiting the shower when a black male wielding a knife entered her bathroom," said Cpl. Edwin Ritter. "There was a struggle, he forced her into the bedroom, where she was able to retrieve a pistol." During the struggle the unidentified woman told her attacker, "Please don't hurt me, I've got money." Sixth Arrest Made in Connection with Mall of Georgia Robberies

Woman charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery.

Another arrest has been made in connection with a string of armed robberies in Gwinnett. Desiree Jones, 26, has been charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Jones is also facing charges related to a separate case. While executing a search warrant in connection with the armed robbery investigation, police located a stolen vehicle in Jones’ garage. The vehicle belonged to Jones and had been reported stolen in July of 2010. Police say Jones received an insurance payment in connection with the alleged theft. As a result, Jones is facing charges of insurance fraud and false report of a crime. She is currently being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center. UPDATED: Child Struck by Car

Two-year-old child dead as a result of injuries.

A child is dead after being struck by a vehicle at a private residence in Auburn. Initial reports indicated the child had been struck near Fence Road and Gran Heritage Way in Dacula. Police now say a family member drove from the Auburn location with the intention of seeking medical help. The driver met with police and emergency medical services personnel in Dacula. The two-year-old female was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center and has died from injuries sustained in the accident. Police have not yet released the name of the driver or the location where the accident occurred. GCPD public information officer Cpl.
