A thief reportedly entered the backyard of a Hamilton Mill home and absconded with a rabbit statue sometime between 8 a.m. on March 2 and 8 a.m. on March 3. The Greenside Court homeowner called police on March 3 after realizing the statue was missing. The statue -- of a rabbit wearing a coat -- was described as being gray in color. There are no known suspects. The case is listed as active. Also on March 3, a Hamilton Mill resident reported a thief broke into her vehicle while it was parked in the driveway of her Highland Forge Trail home. The woman said someone took her wallet out of the car during the overnight hours of March 2. The woman said the vehicle had been locked and there were no signs of forced entry. Locks were not enough to prevent the Christmas Eve theft of a trailer parked behind Dos Copas. Less than a minute after the last employee left for the night on Dec. 24, video surveillance shows a two-door passenger car park behind Dos Copas. Two males exit the vehicle and cut a lock off one of the trailers in the parking lot. According to the Gwinnett County Police incident report, the males enter the trailer and then exit. The males then go to another trailer and begin cutting off the locks. One of the males then backs his car up to the trailer. The two men attach the trailer to their vehicle and drive away. The investigating officer located several of the cut padlocks in the parking lot and secured them as evidence. The report did not …

A burglar or burglars did not make Christmas merry and bright for a Hamilton Mill resident. Gwinnett County Police were called to the 3300 block of Lamont Terrace on Christmas Eve after a resident returned home to find someone had burglarized his home. According to the police report, the resident left the home at about 11 a.m. When he returned at 7 p.m., he noticed his iPad 4 was not where he had left it. The resident then walked into his kitchen and noticed the back door of the home had been forced open and damaged. The iPad 4 has an estimated value of $600. The driver of a vehicle that struck a home on Vista Creek Drive in the Hamilton Mill subdivision of Dacula on Dec. 15 allegedly blamed the accident on a momentary distraction. According to the Gwinnett County Police report, Steven Govedich, 52, of Dacula, said he was in the process of changing the station on his radio when he lost control of his vehicle. While speaking with Govedich, the GCPD officer noticed an odor of alcoholic beverage and asked Govedich if he had consumed any alcoholic beverages that evening. For the second time in less than a month, a truck used by a security company to patrol the Hamilton Mill subdivision clubhouse and pool areas has been vandalized. On Dec. 10, an employee of the security company contacted Gwinnett County Police after discovering all four tires on the security vehicle had been slashed. The vehicle, which had been parked at the Hamilton Mill clubhouse, was damaged at some point between 10 p.m. on Dec. 8 and 9 a.m. on Dec. 10. According to the police report, the driver’s side door of the vehicle had also been kicked several times. The investigating officer reviewed video from a security camera in the area. The property of at least three Hamilton Mill residents was damaged on Dec. 2 when a vandal or vandals armed with a pellet gun made a pass through the Hillgrove section of the Dacula subdivision. Police were called to a home in the 3100 block of Hillgrove Terrace after the residents discovered someone had shot a hole in a second floor window of the home with a bb or pellet gun. One of the residents told police she was awakened by a loud crack sometime between 5 and 5:30 a.m., but did not get out of bed to investigate the noise. Two other incidents of vandalism were also reported during the same time period in Hillgrove. According to Gwinnett County Police public information officer Cpl.
