The End of the World As We Know It: Panic Spreads As Dec. 21 'Mayan Apocalypse' Approaches

Fears related to the end of the Mayan calendar prompting panic worldwide according to media reports.

In just a few days this will all seem very silly, but for now there are people around the world genuinely frightened the world is about to end. Dec. 21, 2012 marks the end of the 5,125-year Mayan calendar. That, however, does not mean the world is ending explained NASA in a statement on their website. "Just as the calendar you have on your kitchen wall does not cease to exist after December 31, the Mayan calendar does not cease to exist on December 21, 2012. This date is the end of the Mayan long-count period but then -- just as your calendar begins again on January 1 -- another long-count period begins for the Mayan calendar," the NASA website states. When the government and NASA says nothing is going to happen that's usually when something happens... Also it's better to be safe then sorry, if nothing happens cool u just had a nice vacation and a good amount of supplies for a while..
