‘It’s Not Me Man!’: Arrestee Proclaims Innocence As Officer Approaches Vehicle

Incident at Little Mulberry Park leads to the arrest of a Dacula man on drug and obstruction charges.

A police response to what was originally believed to be a medical emergency at Little Mulberry Park turned out to be a criminal violation instead. On Jan. 20, a passerby called 911 after seeing a man, later identified as Billy Standridge, 41, of Dacula, sitting in a black Chevrolet Trailblazer and having what appeared to be a seizure. When the officer arrived, Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services personnel were already at the scene. As the officer approached the vehicle, Standridge reportedly threw his hands up and said, “It’s not me man!” The officer asked Standridge if everything was okay. Lost and Found: Is This Your Methamphetamine?

A small Ziploc bag containing illegal narcotics was found at a Dacula convenience store.

Gwinnett County Police were called to the QuikTrip on Hamilton Mill Parkway on Dec. 2 after a store employee made an unusual find. According to the employee, the overnight manager discovered a small Ziploc bag containing a crystal-like substance on the floor near the fountain drink machines. The substance field-tested positive for methamphetamine. An officer took the methamphetamine and placed it into evidence. So far, no one has come forward to claim it. The case is listed as active. Three Arrested After Drugs, Gun and Ledger Found in Car

A Gwinnett County Police officer stopped the vehicle on I-85 near Hamilton Mill Road.

A Nov. 18 traffic stop on I-85 led to the arrest of three people on multiple drug-related charges. A Gwinnett County Police officer was traveling northbound on I-85 when he noticed a white Chrysler Cirrus with a cracked windshield displaying a license plate that was not assigned to the vehicle. After seeing the vehicle cross over the center line and fog line, the officer pulled the car over just south of Hamilton Mill Road.  While writing citations for the driver, Johnny Byrum, 51, of Bowman, Ga., the officer noticed Byrum seemed “extremely nervous.” The officer checked Byrum’s license and discovered it had been suspended in April of 2012.
