An irritated mother took her anger out on a cash register during a March 12 incident at the Dacula Wendy's. Police were called to the Hamilton Creek Parkway restaurant in response to an altercation between a female customer and the store manager. According to the police report, a male customer entered the store and said he did not receive the meal he ordered in the drive-thru. The store manager checked the receipt and advised the customer that he did, in fact, receive the correct order. The customer proceeded to leave the store and return with his mother. Several Sweet Auburn Lane residents had their cars broken into earlier this month. Police responded to at least five reports of entering auto in the Dacula subdivision located off Old Auburn Road. One victim said he left his truck unlocked overnight and discovered all the doors open the following morning. Nothing was taken, but the vehicle had been searched. The victim advised that vehicles belonging to his father and brother had also been entered and searched. No items were reported missing from those vehicles. Two other victims also left their vehicles unlocked overnight. One victim said all but two condoms had been taken out of a box in his vehicle, but nothing else of value was missing. A drunken late-night stroll ended with a trip to jail for a Dacula woman. Police were called to a Whitehouse Road address on Jan. 1 in response to a disturbance call. Upon arrival, the officer met with a witness who said she was traveling on a nearby roadway when she saw a male and female struggling with each other. The woman said she initially thought the two were fighting, but subsequently realized the male was trying to keep the highly intoxicated female from wandering into the roadway. The witness offered the female, later identified as 27-year-old Christina Dyson, a ride. A Hoschton man was charged with possession of a schedule II narcotic after the remnants of suspected oxycodone were found in his vehicle. On Sept. 20, Andrew E. Boknecht, 24, of 4401 Watley Place in Hoschton, and 20-year-old Amber Taylor of 1033 Pine Log Drive in Conyers were travelling northbound on I-85 approximately three miles past the Hamilton Mill exit when an officer noticed the vehicle swerve out of its lane. The officer activated his emergency equipment and Taylor, who was driving the vehicle, slowed to about 15 miles per hour in the left lane before moving to the right and eventually pulling over in the emergency lane. A Buford woman said a thief or thieves got away with “over $1,000” after smashing her car window and stealing her purse while she walked around the lake at Little Mulberry Park in Dacula. On Sept. 15 around 3 p.m., the woman parked her car in the lot at the Hog Mountain Road entrance to Little Mulberry Park. When she returned to her car an hour later, her front passenger side window had been smashed and her purse taken. The victim told police she left the purse on the floor between the front seats of her 2000 Ford Windstar. According to the victim, the purse contained over $1,000 in cash, her driver’s license, checks and multiple credit cards. Police have identified a Lawrenceville man as the bank robbery suspect who died from injuries sustained in a shootout with Gwinnett County Police officers earlier this week. According to police, 38-year-old Alnur Edwards entered the Bank of America located at Old Peachtree Road at Sever Road on Sept. 20 at approximately 11:26 a.m. Edwards allegedly produced a handgun and robbed the bank of an undisclosed amount of money. Edwards reportedly left the scene in a tan-colored Honda. A Gwinnett County Police officer later spotted the Honda in the vicinity of Boggs Road and Duluth Highway. A Dacula woman learned two of her vehicles had been stolen and her house burglarized after a man who had been sent to install a new security system found the home unsecured. According to the police report, the woman’s home had been previously burglarized so her son arranged for an alarm company representative to stop by on Aug. 12 to set up a security system. When the alarm company representative arrived, he noticed the garage door was open. The representative contacted the son who then notified his mother. When the woman arrived home, she realized that not only had her 1999 red Corvette been stolen, but her 2008 blue Honda Element had been taken as well. An armed suspect escaped with approximately $150 in cash after robbing the Hamilton Mill Carvel on Aug. 5. The robbery, which occurred shortly after 9 p.m., was witnessed by at least three customers who were in the store at the time. Neither the customers nor the store employee were injured. The Carvel employee told police he noticed the suspect arrive at the store in a large black SUV, similar to a Suburban or Tahoe. After standing in the parking lot for several minutes, the robber allegedly entered the store, pulled a gun and demanded money. Cause of death unknown.
Gwinnett County Police are investigating the death of a man found Tuesday night in an abandoned house in Dacula. GCPD public information officer Cpl. Jake Smith said investigators have been working to determine if the man died of natural causes or was the victim of a homicide. According to Smith, the cause of death was not immediate apparent by looking at the body. Results of the autopsy are not yet available. The body was found in a vacant farmhouse on Auburn Road near Bailey Road. Details regarding how the body was discovered have not yet been released.

Another daytime car break-in was reported last week at Gold’s Gym in Dacula. The break-in is the latest in a series of incidents in which the thief or thieves have smashed car windows in order to gain access to the interior of the vehicles. On the morning of July 19, a Hoschton woman was walking across the parking lot of Gold’s Gym when she heard the sound of glass breaking. When the woman turned in the direction of the noise, she saw a black male with short hair reaching inside a white Toyota Camry.
