Was the State of the Union Address All You Hoped it Would Be?

President Barack Obama gave his State of the Union address Tuesday. Was it a source of comfort for you or did it leave you with concerns about the country going forward?

President Barack Obama's State of the Union address Tuesday may well be the most important speech he's ever given. It sets the tone for the legacy he will leave behind at the end of his final term. While he did say the state of the Union is "stronger," he also went on to say that there is work still to be done. His emphasis was on reigniting what he called "the true engine of America's economic growth - a rising, thriving, middle class." If you missed it, here is the full text from the president's SOTU address from ABC News. In the Republican response, however, Sen. Marco Rubio R-Fla., said that the vision the president laid out relied on government to fix everything, saying, "to make it to the middle class or beyond no matter where you …

Accepting Personal Responsibility

The game of blame shifting and finger pointing is national pastime.

The new national pastime is finger pointing and blame shifting. In the political world, we hear from our lawmakers that the situations requiring decisions they make are not really their fault. The President says the higher gasoline prices are not his fault. Local and statewide officeholders across the nation find a way to shift the blame to the people with the national political mantra, “Let the people decide.” In the home, couples with trouble in their marriage point a finger at the other spouse or the situations they have to face. Parents blame their children for disruption in the home. Children blame parents for not understanding them. In sports, the blame is shifted to the rules or the referees. In the church, it is “the other crowd …

Religious Liberty Under Attack

Is healthcare mandate an affront to all people who are pro-life?

Fresh from a misapplication of a Bible passage at a prayer breakfast, the Obama administration announced through the  Department of Health and Human Services a requirement that all insurance plans under the Patient Protection Act (PPACA) known as Obamacare cover free-of-charge certain “contraceptives.” The immediate blowback on this announcement spread throughout the Christian faith-based community. Dr. Richard Land and Dr. Barrett Duke, of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, said in a joint op-ed article, “We consider this callous requirement by the Obama administration to be a clear violation of our nation’s commitment to liberty of conscience and a flagrant violation of our constitutional …

As "We he People" lay asleep under the guise of this faltering economy with banks and loan companies illegally taking homes, congress stealing from those they are supposed to represent with pet projects personal gains, and KING OB selling classified documents to our enemies, many are happy to just keep their mouths shut and stay on their US dool. It is said that a Republic takes a life cycle of …   more ›

President Says Jesus Wants You to Pay Higher Taxes

Does the Good Book have a requirement for those who are well off to give -- or rather have Uncle Sam take -- more?

President Obama ventured into uncharted waters recently at a prayer breakfast. Media reported there were more than 3,000 people in attendance as President Obama spoke and used Jesus as his proof that taxes need to be higher in our country. The Washington Post quoted Obama as he talked about raising taxes when he said;  “I think to myself, if I’m willing to give something up as somebody who’s been extraordinarily blessed, and give up some of the tax breaks that I enjoy, I actually think that’s going to make economic sense.” He went on to say, “But for me, as a Christian, it also coincides with Jesus’ teaching that ‘for unto whom much is given, much shall be required'.” Using a quote from the Bible is not new for politicians, but to bring …

The question I'd like to ask those who advocate the government giving to the "poor" is this: Isn't it better to let people keep their money, and freely give to the needs that they see directly in their own back yards, or give to the government who TAKES THEIR CUT OFF THE TOP (in the millions) before doling it out? I thought the catholic church would have learned by now. They put Obama over the top…   more ›

Bill to Repeal Obamacare Reporting Requirements Passed by Senate

Rep. Rob Woodall co-sponsored the legislation.

Dacula’s representative in Congress, Rep. Rob Woodall (R-GA), announced Tuesday that H.R. 4, a piece of Pledge to America legislation designed to repeal certain tax reporting provisions in President Obama’s health care reform package, has been sent to the President for signature. “The 1099 reporting requirements in ObamaCare do more than just place an undue burden on American taxpayers: it disincentivizes private sector growth in a time when our nation needs it the most,” Woodall said in a released statement.  “I am proud to see that the folks on the other side of the Capitol Building agree with the House’s stance on this pressing issue. A recent National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Small Business Survey determined that tax …

GDOT: Stimulus Program a ‘Tremendous’ Success

Officials describe the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act as a continuing success story.

Two years and nearly $1 billion later, officials with the Georgia Department of Transportation are calling the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) stimulus program a “tremendously important success story.” Locally, Gwinnett County has benefited from more than $74 million in stimulus funding allocated to 11 separate road projects. In total, Georgia has received nearly $981 million in transportation stimulus funds. GDOT officials say more than half has already been spent on 500 separate ARRA-funded projects that have provided more than 3.6 million man hours of work. The remaining stimulus money will fund jobs through 2015. “As far as the transportation engineering and construction industries are concerned, without question …

Looks like old Vance has been drinking that kool-aid that flows out of Washington. This is why I say you've got to watch those with an "R" by their name. While they may talk like conservative Republicans you had best determine if they are really conservative Republicans or RINO's. Republican In Name Only. How can you distinguish between the two? You can identify them when the grants and subsidies…   more ›

Woodall to Host Telephone Town Hall Meeting

Event scheduled for Tuesday, March 22.

Congressman Rob Woodall (R-GA07) will host a telephone town hall meeting on Tuesday, March 22 at 7 p.m. Woodall emailed roughly 77,000 constituents to announce the meeting. “There is a lot going on in Congress right now, particularly when it comes to dollars and cents,” Woodall wrote. “We're voting on what they call ‘Continuing Resolutions’ that fund what they call ‘discretionary spending’ from now until September. We will vote on what they call ‘the debt ceiling’ which is a measure of how much previous presidents and congresses have run up America's credit card. We will also vote on what they call ‘appropriations bills’ which fund the ‘discretionary spending’ accounts from October of this year until September of 2012.We're voting on what …
