Spring sports are well under way and summer activities are just around the corner. Patch wants to help you share every exciting moment with the community. We are looking for athletes, coaches, parents, booster club members and fans who are ready, willing and able to show their team spirit on Patch. News about any team -- high school, middle school, recreational teams, etc. -- is welcome! Here's how you can share news about your sports team: 1. Start a blog about your sports team: Share stats, recaps, photos and/or videos from the game in your own sports blog. Is your favorite team a college or pro team? That's okay too! Registration for the Dacula Soccer Club's fall season opened Saturday, May 11, and players can sign up online or during an upcoming walk-up registration session. Registration is first come, first served. The walk-up registration session will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8 at the Rabbit Hill Soccer Complex. Norcross and Buford high schools are more than three months away from beginning their defenses of state football championships. But that doesn't mean there isn't some planning already going on. Six Gwinnett County girls soccer teams won second-round matches Tuesday night, advancing to the Georgia High School Association quarterfinals, which begin Friday, May 10. Two all-Gwinnett finals highlight the second round of the Georgia High School Association girls soccer tournament. The Georgia High School Association meet was held May 2-4 in Jefferson, Ga.
Led by individual wins by Tyler Woodrome and Michael Cheeks, Mill Creek won the Class AAAAAA boys track and field championship, held May 2-4 in Jefferson, Ga. Mill Creek finished with 59 points to beat second-place Hillgrove, which had 43. Brookwood (35 points) was third, Shiloh (30) fifth and North Gwinnett (27.5) sixth. Woodrome won the 1,600 meters in a time of 4 minutes, 15.85 seconds and Cheeks won the 200 in a time of 22.01 seconds. The Mill Creek 4x400 relay team, which included Woodrome and Cheeks, also won first place in a time of 3:24.22. Braden Canamare and Allen Eckles were also on that relay team. In Class AA, Darius Slayton won the 100 and 200 meters as Greater Atlanta Christian finished second in the team standings. …

The local schools are among the 14 county teams playing in the Georgia High School Association baseball tournament.
There are two big questions surrounding the Georgia High School Association baseball playoffs for Gwinnett County fans. 1. Can Parkview High win the state championship for the third straight year? 2. Will the Panthers have to meet neighboring rival Brookwood again (like last year) to pull it off? The state playoffs begin Friday, May 3, with first-round double-headers in six classifications. Gwinnett County will be well-represented by 15 teams in five of those divisions Parkview will host Etowah in a double-header beginning at 5 p.m. in the Class AAAAAA tournament; Brookwood opens at Milton, also at 5. Trent Tignor is the WITN Pepsi Player of the Week.
East Carolina punter and 2010 Mill Creek High School graduate Trent Tignor has been named the WITN Pepsi Player of the Week. According to WITN.com, "Tignor is a standout student at East Carolina as he's made both the Dean's and Chancellor's list.
