A look at a few of the most popular stories this week on Dacula Patch.

Woman Carjacked at Dacula Gas Station As a 13-year resident of Dacula, I do not enjoy seeing these headlines any more than the next person. The reality remains though that we are close enough to the metro area to be affected by the same crimes that routinely afflict our more urban counterparts. The best course of action, as always, is to be alert and take basic steps such as locking your doors and exercising caution around strangers. Case in point: Redheaded Hitchhiker Kidnaps Dacula Man According to the police report, this was a case of a good Samaritan who learned a tough lesson. A Dacula man said he offered a ride to a man who appeared to be in need and ended up getting kidnapped and forced to drive to Atlanta for his trouble. The …

If you missed the parade, here’s your chance to watch the action. Yes, I crammed over an hour’s worth of parade into under seven minutes of video, but you’ll see why you want to start making plans now to attend next year’s parade. Do you remember your high school graduation? I sure do. It was hot, boring and our valedictorian gave a speech that had something to do with shrink-wrap. I don’t know what the speeches were like at the Dacula High School graduation, but the students look pretty happy. Congratulations to the class of 2011. Ok everyone, repeat after me: “I will not leave valuables in my car for perps to steal.” Got it? Great. We have had a lot of entering autos over the past two weeks. Take precautions to avoid becoming a victim. …
