Editor’s Notebook: Top Five Stories for the Week Ending March 20

A look at the Dacula Patch articles you don’t want to miss.

After months of waiting, we got our first look at the 2010 census data this week. For those of you who were around when the 2000 data rolled out, you will recall that there were dramatic changes reported in that census. The 2010 census is no different. Dacula’s population, like that of Gwinnett County as a whole, is much more diverse than it was 10 years ago and drastically different than it was in 1990. To read more, see “Dacula’s Hispanic Population Triples.” While Dacula, Gwinnett County and the state as a whole have experienced growth over the past 10 years, our roadways and transportation systems have not kept pace. Editor’s Notebook: Top Five Stories of the Week, Feb. 28 – March 4

A look at this week’s most important stories on Dacula Patch.

Another week has drawn to a close. If you’ve been too busy to visit Dacula Patch, here’s a look at our top five stories of the week: 1.     Man Facing Property Condemnation Asks for Support Dacula Patch has been following this story literally since the day this site launched. In November, the Dacula City Council voted to initiate condemnation proceedings in order to acquire a small tract of land belonging to Sam Hinton. Hinton, who did not want to sell the land, asked for the public’s support this week in fighting the condemnation. A large crowd turned out at Thursday’s city council meeting to show their support and the resolution to exercise eminent domain failed to pass. Is this the end of the story? Only time will tell.
