Drunken, ‘Argumentative’ Man Arrested in Grocery Store Parking Lot

Suspect had purchased and consumed a six-pack of beer just after 8 a.m. and was sleeping it off when police arrived.

Despite later claiming he had no intention of being rude or disrespectful, a homeless man was just that during a June 15 encounter with police in the parking lot of the Mulberry Village Publix. An officer found Austin Briscoe, 22, asleep in the passenger seat of a 1989 Honda Accord. Briscoe's two dogs were running around in the parking lot near the car. Briscoe, who is homeless, was the only person in the car and his car was packed with clothes, a television set and other personal items. When he approached the vehicle, the officer noticed a strong odor of alcoholic beverage and saw two cans of Bud Ice sitting on the dashboard. The following arrest information was obtained from the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Department's Docket Book. The following individuals have been charged with, but not convicted of a crime.

The following Dacula residents were booked into the Gwinnett County Jail between June 1 and June 5. Those arrested and their charges include: Todd Wayne Newman, 939 Redstone Road, Dacula, was arrested on June 1 and charged with a probation violation. Cesar Alberto Rodriguez, 1699 Little Fox Lane, Dacula, was arrested on June 1 and charged with first-degree forgery. Jack Leonard Campanale, 2350 Beckenham Place, Dacula, was arrested on June 1 and charged with DUI and improper lane change. Ryan Mason McWhorter, 2292 Scott Circle, Dacula, was arrested on June 2 and charged with theft by shoplifting and underage possession of alcohol. Drunken Man Restrained in Pool of Own Vomit Until Cops Arrive

Auburn, Ga. man accused of “causing problems” inside bar. Female acquaintance also arrested after screaming profanities at officers.

Patrons at Dos Copas restaurant in Dacula took matters into their own hands when an Auburn man caused a disturbance inside the bar area on the evening of May 29. By the time Gwinnett County Police arrived at the restaurant, James Driggers, 29, of 1635 River Trace in Auburn, was being held on the ground outside the bar by two other males.  Driggers, according to the officer’s report, was lying in a pool of his own vomit. A female acquaintance, Laci Hamm, 29, of 1650 Quail Point Run in Hoschton, was sitting nearby. The two men who had restrained Driggers explained they attempted to calm Driggers after he “began causing problems” inside the bar. “When they did so, Driggers turned his anger towards them and began shoving them,” the officer …

Customer Punches Restaurant Manager Over Quarters

Manager assaulted after man gets upset about a machine that had taken his child’s quarters.

A local restaurant manager was punched, pushed and scratched after a customer got upset over a machine that had taken his child’s quarters. Police were called to Del Rio Mexican Grill on the evening of May 12 after the manager was assaulted. According to the victim, a white bald male customer approached him and said a machine took his child’s quarters. The victim advised the man to go to the cashier’s station to get a refund. The customer reportedly became upset because the manager did not retrieve the money for him. The victim said the male walked off, but returned a short time later and accused the victim of “not doing a good job.” The victim and the man began arguing. Bank Robbery Alarm Was Accident

Numerous police units responded to the Bank of Georgia Friday afternoon after a silent panic alarm call was issued.

A silent panic alarm call prompted a large police response at the Dacula Bank of North Georgia on Friday, May 18. A total of 15 units from North Precinct, East Precinct, K-9 and Aviation were dispatched to the Braselton Highway bank just before 2:30 p.m. for what was initially believed to be a robbery in progress. Vehicle Reported Stolen Was Actually Hidden by Weeds in Yard

A Dacula woman thought her van had been stolen but later realized the vehicle was in her yard the whole time.

Tall grass and weeds were to blame for a stolen vehicle report earlier this week. A 78-year-old Dacula woman called police on May 14 to report that her deceased husband’s 1973 Chevrolet van was missing. The woman said the van, which is inoperative, had been parked in the front yard of her home. The report was taken over the phone at the request of the complainant. During her conversation with the officer, the woman, according to the police report, “indicated that there were no signs of forced entry but was not entirely certain that the doors had been locked.” Later that day, the woman called police to advise the vehicle had been located. Pair Posing As Contractors Arrested on Burglary, Drug Charges

May 10 incident occurred at a vacant home on Roland Manor Drive in Dacula.

A Palmetto man and a Statesboro woman were taken into custody on May 10 after allegedly breaking into a vacant Dacula home. Police were called to the Roland Manor Drive home after a neighbor reported seeing two people attempting to force open the front door of the home. After the pair walked to the rear of the home, the neighbor -- an off-duty police officer – retrieved his police identification and personal firearm and walked over to the house to investigate. According to the Gwinnett County Police incident report, the neighbor discovered the back door had been forced open and the two individuals were inside the house. Suspicious Male Spotted Searching Cars

Police called to The Overlook at Apalachee in Dacula after a resident observed a suspicious male looking into cars and trying to open vehicle doors.

Several cars in a Dacula subdivision were entered and searched during the early morning hours of April 27. Police responded to The Overlook at Apalachee after a resident reported seeing a suspicious male looking into cars and attempting to open vehicle doors. Responding officers were unable to locate the male, but found several cars with doors left wide open. According to the police report, the glove compartments and center consoles of the vehicles had been searched. At least five vehicles were entered, but no items were reporting missing in those incidents. In all five cases, there were no signs of forced entry. The cases are listed as active. I had the same thing happen to me during the wee morning hours on the same day! I filed a police report. Odd thing though. My car is parked closest to the house, under the light and there were 4 other vehicles in the driveway that "HAD" valuables in them and they weren't touched. Wonder what they're looking for and if it could be some type of gang initiation or teenagers. Who knows?   more ›

Bar Patron Gives ‘The Mean Mug,’ Punches Two Men in Jaw

Altercation at Dos Copas results in two men getting punched in the face by a third man.

Two Buford men said an unidentified male punched them in the face during an April 26 altercation at Dos Copas. Police were called to the Hamilton Mill Road restaurant just before 2 a.m. last Thursday. One of the victims said he was sitting inside the bar when he noticed a man staring at him from across the room. According to the victim, the man was giving him “the mean mug.” The victim approached the male and inquired if everything was alright.
