Home Ransacked During Burglary

Homeowner returned home from work to find house had been entered.

Gwinnett County Police are investigating a Sept. 24 burglary at a Crystal Ridge residence that left a woman’s home in a state of disarray. The woman told police she returned left for work at 7 a.m. on Sept. 24. When she returned that evening at 5 p.m., she discovered her front door had been kicked open and the house ransacked. According to the police report, all of the drawers and closets in the home had been opened. The homeowner was unable to advise what had been taken at the time of the report. The investigating officer spoke with several neighbors, but none had seen or heard anything out of the ordinary during the day. The case is listed as active. Man Reports $10,000 Cash Stolen out of Car

Victim said he left the money in his car for just a few minutes while he went inside a Dacula bank.

A two-minute trip inside the Braselton Highway Bank of America turned out to be a very costly one for a Buford man. On Aug. 25, the victim visited two Dacula banks in order to withdraw cash to purchase a car.  According to the Gwinnett County Police report, the victim withdrew $5,000 in cash at Wells Fargo and then withdrew $5,000 at the Bank of America. After making the Bank of America withdrawal, the victim reportedly placed the cash in envelopes inside a backpack in his vehicle. The victim and a friend then went back inside the bank to complete an unrelated money transfer. The victim told police he was only inside the bank for two minutes before returning to his vehicle. Armed Robbers Strike at Dacula Cell Phone Store

Two suspects, armed with handguns, flee with more than $13,000 worth of phones and iPads. Incident captured on store video surveillance.

Two armed men stole thousands of dollars worth of phones and iPads during an Aug. 18 armed robbery at the AT&T store in the Kroger shopping center on Dacula Road. According to the incident report, Gwinnett County Police arrived at the store just 45 seconds after the suspects fled. The employee on duty at the time of the robbery said two male suspects entered the store shortly after noon. One of the suspects started to ask the employee about phones while the other suspect looked at an iPad display.  As the first suspect approached the employee, he reportedly pulled a silver, small frame revolver out of his pocket and pointed it at the employee. Suspected Burglar Calls Homeowner, Says He Needs to Use Her Bathroom

Homeowner tells police suspect is a frequent visitor to her home.

A Dacula woman received an unusual phone call on the morning of Aug. 8. According to the Gwinnett County Police incident report, the woman was away from home when she received a call from a male acquaintance who advised that he was inside the woman’s Leighs Brook Way home. When the woman asked the man what he was doing in her house, the man reportedly replied that he needed to use the bathroom. The woman told police that when she asked how the man got into her home, he replied that he “just got in.” “[The woman] did not think much of [the suspect] using her bathroom as he is a frequent visitor to her house,” the officer wrote in the report. “[The suspect] even visited the night before.” Once the woman returned home, she discovered a …

Music Keyboard Stolen During Burglary, ‘Cathedral’-Like Playing Believed to Be Contributing Factor

A watch was also stolen. Suspects described as "skinny white males," one of whom was "rough" looking and possibly missing teeth.

A musician told police he may know why his Yamaha 250 keyboard was taken during an Aug. 6 burglary at his Hayes Road home. “[The victim] said he frequently plays his keyboard ‘like a cathedral’ for his own personal enjoyment,” the officer wrote in the incident report. “[The victim] said that he suspects that someone may have gotten tired of it.” The keyboard, along with a gold Seiko watch, were the only items taken, but the victim said several drawers and cabinets throughout the home had been searched. The burglar is believed to have forced open the front door to gain entry to the home. Pilfered Peppers Plopped on Path

Burglar also left a watering can, but took two chain saws.

A burglar not only took the time to rummage through a shed, but also hung around long enough to raid the victim’s garden as well. Gwinnett County Police were called to the 1300 block of Mineral Springs Road on July 30 after a property owner discovered his shed had been burglarized. According to the incident report, the side door to the shed had been pried open and two Stihl chain saws taken. “A path could be seen going through the dew covered grass leading away from the barn into the woods,” the officer wrote in the report. Along that path, the officer recovered a bag of peppers that had been plucked from the victim’s garden as well as a watering can that had last been seen next to the shed. Vandal Strikes Dacula Library

Message spray painted on the front of the building.

Gwinnett County Police are trying to find the person or persons responsible for a recent act of vandalism at the Dacula Library. Sometime between 3:15 p.m. on July 27 and 8:30 a.m. on July 28, an unknown person or persons spray painted the message "I love MDL" on the front of the library. There are no known witnesses and the library's surveillance camera was inoperative at the time of the incident. Man Pepper Sprayed at Little Mulberry Park

Victim said assailant accosted his wife and made sexually suggestive comments. Another woman also reported being “verbally raped” by the assailant.

A Dacula man was pepper sprayed in the face after attempting to speak with a male who allegedly made sexually suggestive remarks to the victim’s wife while she was walking in Little Mulberry Park. On the morning of Sunday, July 29, police received two calls related to the incident -- one from the victim and one from the suspect, later identified as Eddie Dwayne Boss, 53, of 3584 Habersham Court in Buford. An officer met with Boss first to obtain his version of events. Boss said he had encountered the victim’s wife at Little Mulberry Park previously and had what he described as a “mutual conversation” with the woman. Boss said when he saw the woman on the morning of July 29, he stopped to say hello. Boss told police he thought it was …

$200,000 Worth of Medical Implants Reported Stolen

Victim said implants were in his vehicle in his garage at the time of the theft.

Approximately $200,000 worth of spinal implants are missing after an entering auto incident in Hamilton Mill on the afternoon of July 16. Gwinnett County Police were called to a Millwater Crossing residence after the victim realized a case containing the spinal implants had been removed from his vehicle. According to the victim, he parked his car in his garage with the car doors unlocked and the garage door open. When he came out to his car thirty minutes later, the case -- which the victim said resembled a computer bag -- was gone. An envelope containing $750 that had been left in the center console of the vehicle was also taken. There are no known witnesses or suspects. The case is listed as active. Insurance Office Burglarized, Customer Listed as Suspect

No items taken, but office appeared to have been searched. Incident is the second burglary at the location this month.

A local insurance office has now been burglarized twice this month. On July 16, Gwinnett County Police were called to the State Farm office on Hog Mountain Church Road after one of the agents arrived at work and discovered the business had been burglarized. The suspect is believed to have entered the business by removing a window air conditioning unit and climbing through the window. After rummaging through the office, the suspect apparently left the office through the window and put the air conditioning unit back in place. The agent did not discover anything missing from the office. The burglary is the second one at the location this month. On July 1, the business was burglarized and cash removed from a desk drawer.
