A development company hopes to have a 1.7-acre tract of land in Dacula rezoned for the purpose of building a Dollar General store. Applicant Sullivan Wickley Properties has requested the property at the corner of Harbins Road and Jones Phillips Road be rezoned from C-1 (neighborhood business district) to C-2 (general business district). The 9,100-square-foot, four-sided brick store would front Harbins Road. The development would include 30 parking spaces. A change in conditions zoning request for property on Braselton Highway near Jim Moore Road will not be decided until next month. According to Gwinnett County Planning Commission Chairman Chuck Warbington, the owner of the property known as "The Shire at Mulberry Creek" requested the case be tabled until the Sept. 4 planning commission meeting. Originally scheduled to go before the Gwinnett County Planning Commission in July, the "Shire" zoning request will now likely be heard in September. The Gwinnett County Department of Planning and Development has recommended a request to rezone a 6-acre piece of property on Jim Moore Road for the purpose of building a 50-unit personal care home be denied. Buford-based Day Design Group Inc., on behalf of applicant Jeff Sutton, filed a rezoning application and special use permit request to rezone the property at 3751 Jim Moore Road from residential to O-I (office-institutional). A Hamilton Mill homeowner has launched an online petition in hopes of stopping a proposed rezoning for property located at 3751 Jim Moore Road in Dacula. Applicant Jeff Sutton has filed a request to have his 6-acre property rezoned from residential to O-I (office-institutional) for the purpose of constructing a 50-unit personal care facility. Debbie Hogan’s Change.org petition has more than 90 signatures to date. Hogan said she hopes to obtain at least 100 signatures and plans to email the petition letter along with the signatures to the planning commission members and the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners later this week.
