After last-place finish in Gwinnett Chairman's race, Lilburn Libertarian says he doesn't expect to run for office "anytime soon."
The day after finishing last in the four-person race for the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners chair, Will Costa was selling pasta Wednesday. The Lilburn Libertarian, who drew just 8.85 percent of the vote in Tuesday’s special election won by Charlotte Nash, was in the office at Costa’s Pasta, the family business in Cobb County, looking forward to the upcoming farmer’s market season. “I’m going to go out there and sell some pasta,” Costa said, referring to weekend farmer’s markets, such as in Lilburn and Snellville, which will fill his calendar this spring and summer. “I’d rather talk about pasta than politics. … I’ve been making pasta for almost 30 years.” Costa, 42, said it was time to focus on business and family — he and his wife …

No runoff as Nash secures 56 percent of the vote.
UPDATED MARCH 16. Voters went to the polls March 15 to decide which candidate - Charlotte Nash, Larry Gause, Will Costa or Duane Kissel - will fill the unexpired portion of former Gwinnett County Chairman Charles Bannister’s term. With 156 of 156 precincts reporting, unofficial totals show Charlotte Nash with 56 percent of the vote. The totals are as follows: Charlotte Nash - 9120 (55.99%) Duane Kissel - 1533 (8.92%) Will Costa - 1528 (8.85%) Larry Gause - 4363 (26.06%) Out of 384,172 registered Gwinnett County voters, only 19,118 or 4.98 percent voted in the election.

If there was a theme to tonight’s candidate forum, it concerned the role of local government. The four candidates for chair of the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners - Will Costa, Larry Gause, Duane Kissel and Charlotte Nash - were asked to share their views on a variety of topics, but the discussion kept returning to what purpose government is meant to fulfill. Back a few years ago down in Jacksonville, Florida had Georgia on the ropes. Florida had the ball at midfield. It was fourth and one. Florida went for it and didn't make it.
