ReplyI would think that all citizens would be concerned with corruption and the future of our ability to provide jobs. There is no need to take this post personally and dig up a counterpoint. One of our nation's biggest problems is that we cheer on political parties as if they are rival high school football teams. Corruption is bad wherever it is and no matter who it involves. Let's just focus on that thought.

ReplyI think your point about being observant is important. I have always been most successful when I have tuned out the opinions of others and made my own decisions about people. Those who gossip make a big mistake. There is no place for it in the workplace. You can be sure everything you say "in confidence" will eventually find it's way back to the person who you said it about. On another note, there are no real friends in business. A businesses purpose is to make a profit. It's not a social group. When push comes to shove, a "friend" will do whatever is in his or her best interest even if it ruins your "friendship."

ReplyIt's easy to fall into the trap of thinking you have to take every call RIGHT NOW. But if we think about it we just keep ourselves overly stressed out when we don't take a break. Most of what we grab our phones for can wait. So, I keep my phone on silent unless I know there is a real emergency, like having a loved one in the hospital, and I keep it in my purse during social outings. I try to keep my phone conversations to myself by making calls before I enter a store and I never answer the phone when it's my turn at the register. Sales clerks deserve my full attention, too.
