ReplyGround Chuck what does a degree in urban planning have to do with anything - real estate has always been about finding the highest and best use for property - in this case apartments. Why do the folks in the simpson district not want them? Cant be because of school overcrowding because it is operating at less than full capacity. Is there something about someone making a choice to rent rather than own (seems smart given the market in the last few years) or maybe they dont want to mess with maintaining a lawn and other aspects that renters dont have to deal with. Now looking at the keen insight of those with urban planning degrees, the first thing that comes to mind is the vinson study that was paraded around by those supporting this glorified hoa. The document was wrong; in fact it wasnt even close - so maybe the urban planning degree gives one a free pass to put unrealistic projections that serve a groups political agenda??? Sorry, but it seems everything this pack of nimby's hate ha to do with what they feel is undesirable uses of property aka apartments and their inhabitants, which in many cases dont look like them and they certainly dont feel they are there equals.

ReplyBut wait werent we told City Lite would only cost around $700k to run. Where will the money come from when they are sued for floating some kind of revenue anticipation notes or bonds without the voters having a choice. Let them build what they want. Dunwoody recently had dreams of making things (and people) go away by buying apartments along PIB - but ya know what - the bond measure was voted down. That is how things are done in a democracy - but wait, I forgot, this is a glorified HOA.

Of course not! Where is the our esteemed HOA President....err Mayor on the effect of apartments on the areas only IB Elementary School. Can they wrap their narrow minds around the fact that apartment dwellers from other places participate in a more rigorous curriculum than their beloved Simpson?

Dont forget, very soon we will be spending money on consultants so that we can have our trash picked up in a way that is sure to amaze. I want the hauler to leave a bow on my can and spray something in the can so it will smell nice.
Wouldn't it have been great if we were a city in time to fight this? Of course, because then we could pick up the tab on a legal fight that would have been lost. This so-called city has done nothing but what Veritatem says above. Failed and its barely a year old.

Well Russ, thinking like a homeowner perhaps this idea should be extended to modify the codes so those neighborhoods are restricted from having pets. I suspect far more pets exist in the neighborhoods than would ever be housed at an animal clinic. I do hope the you are monitoring the trash coming out of ingles - i believe you could go there and find a substantial cache of dead animal parts. This place just gets worse as each week passes.
