Jimmy Orr

About Jimmy

Jimmy Orr was born and raised in Columbus, Georgia and currently resides in Gwinnett County.

Orr began his working career in the U.S. Army. After two years in the service, Orr began work in the telecommunications industry. He retired from Southern Bell/BellSouth after 35 years of service. During his tenure, Orr was responsible for the design, construction, and maintenance of outside plant telecommunications facilities. Orr came up through the ranks and held various craft and management positions in operations and engineering before retiring as a supervising engineer. Orr also spent 13 years in public works and public utility construction.

When asked about his college education, Orr will reply that he has a Bachelor's degree, a Masters degree, and a Doctorate - all from the University of Hard Knocks with the experience to back them up.

Orr is an avid Auburn University football fan. He is also a voracious reader who enjoys everything from printed/online newspapers to complex technical manuals.

Orr also enjoys writing and frequently submits letters to the editor and op-ed pieces to the local news media. He is married with one daughter and two grandchildren.

Hi jimmy,

I am working on a feature film that is helping a great

cause as well as offering people the opportunity to get involved

with the film. I think this would be a great story to write about and

tell people. I just wanted to pass this along. …Or If it’s not too

much trouble, pledge on something (they are offering great things!)
