    Cynthia, My point in questioning the reason for Councilman Wells' of whether I worked on the referendum was simple. The Mayor has stated clearly that work on the referendum would have no bearing on the outcome of the applicant recieving the license. So therefore his question was not pertinent and it begs the question as to why he (Wells) asked the question in the first place. Two supporting points... One, if it was relevant it would have been on their score sheet. It wasn't. Two, if it was relevant no one but he Weavers would have applied for the license.

    Take a look at the photos I just uploaded at the top of this thread. Does it really make sense to build a new building in the middle of five church campuses, three schools and Rabbit Hill Park and leave this building empty in the middle of Dacula?

    Someone mentioned a water/sewer problem with the building. Not so, a beverage store requires minimal water/sewer as does Advance Auto Parts and Rite Aid.

    Michelle,

    First of all, I have contracted the entire building at Towler Village (old Green Tea location between Rite Aid and Advance Auto Parts) and plan for a 7000+ Square foot build-out. Secondly, it is absolutely a free standing building. It utilizes an existing building that has been empty for some time located in the heart of Dacula away from churches and heavy residential.

    Like others have said it seems to be the most logical location and creates no negative impact on the citizens and in fact is a more responsible location for everyone.

    Floyd- Obviously Tommy Hunter felt it was important because he posted it. Ask him. He's our new commissioner. Congratulations Tommy!

    @Brett Harrell
    Brett, this is exactly what I believe the people of District 3 are tired of, country club Republicans that support another candidate solely because of their ‘worthiness of service’ or ‘agree, disagree, you know where he stands’ mentality. The fact is his policies of a socialized trash plan, county ownership of a golf course, Cool Ray Field tax burden, county controlled cell tower taken from a private citizen, SDS litigation etc. all fly in the face of conservative ideals.

    I asked you at Snellville Days how you can support Mike Beaudreau in light of your HB291 proposal that would disallow anything other property taxes on a property tax bill which flies directly in the face of Mike’s trash plan and your answer was, “Mike and I disagree on a lot of things but he’s been a long time supporter of the party and I’m supporting him.” Interpretation; you’re new to the seen, it doesn’t matter if his policies are not conservative, Mike’s a party man.

    And this is the crossroads to which the citizens of District 3 have arrived. Will they vote for the guy that’s ‘been there done that’ in the Republican Party and done what HE thought was right for the citizens or will they vote for a true conservative, politically unconnected newcomer?

    Also, as a point of fact, I was the only candidate that actively battled against the commercialization of Briscoe field. The others are Johnny-come-lately. Oberholzer was a proponent when he was the mayor of Snellville (October 5, 2010 AJC Gwinnett) and Hunter was nowhere to be found. I worked aggressively researching the FAA program, attending BOC, CRC, press conferences, speaking at meetings and rallying citizens in opposition to the expansion that ultimately would have cost taxpayers millions. I know the others weren’t involved because I was!

    It’s time to bring integrity and fiscal discipline back to the Board of Commissioners, one that is untarnished by the politics as usual in Gwinnett County. I am the only one in the race that fits the bill. Check it out for yourself. www.mikekorom.com, mikekorom@bellsouth.net, 404-427-6762 (I will answer or return your call).

    For the record, my campaign had nothing to do with the robo-call nor were we aware that others were engaged in placing it.

    While I agree its time for honest leadership this is not an approach I would allow my campaign to use.

    We are filing an open records request to accurately identify the hard costs associated with the airport studies. There are other soft costs that are more difficult to pinpoint such as staff time. Here’s what we know for sure. We wasted significant time and money. Any time we waste money in one area it reduces the amount of money available for other services.

    I find it interesting that Beaudreau offers his phone number but he wouldn’t return the call of the CBS46 reporter that was questioning how residents in Fulton County were offered trash service for $10 a month by the same company that we pay nearly double in our tax bill. This is typical Beaudreau doublespeak. As he said in the debate audio the new county trash plan is less socialistic than the old plan where we could choose our own service provider and negotiate our own pricing. Doublespeak! (CBSAtlanta 46 online July 5 2012, Gwinnett citizens outraged over trash bills). http://www.cbsatlanta.com/story/18957798/2012/07/05/gwinnett-citizens-outraged-over-trash-bills
