Liquor Store Construction Hampered by Weather, Owners 'Trying to Catch Up'

Dacula's Cork and Bottle is still scheduled to open in October.

The rainy weather which has plagued the area over the past few months has also dampened Russ Weaver's hopes of opening his new liquor store on schedule.

Originally slated to open the store in October, Weaver said he is now trying to get back on schedule after weather-related construction delays.

"We're a little bit behind, but we're trying to catch up," he said. "I haven't given up on October."

Had the area not experienced so much rain, the building would be done by now Weaver explained.

"That's how bad the weather has beat us up this summer," he said.

Within the next few weeks, the store will launch its Facebook page and website. In the meantime, construction continues at the site.

In addition to the liquor store parcel, Weaver and his wife Heather own the surrounding 13.5 acres of commercial real estate at the intersection of Hurricane Shoals and Old Peachtree Road.
